The ruling at first base was goofy IMO. The runner had to run inside because of where the first baseman was so that negates having to run back to touch first base. Even Stevie Wonder could see that…

True, but they rallied and had a chance. Need better pitching, starters and relievers. I think whomever the next pitching coach is will, hopefully, have better results. NIL i$ obviou$ly a huge factor going forward though…

The painful thing was losing on a brain-fart. The 3rd run never should have happened, if our 2nd Baseman plays for a cutoff then the runner stops at 3rd. But instead, he pouted about missing the play and headed into the infield forcing the right Fielder to one-hop the throw-in to 2nd giving plenty of time for the Duke guy to score from 3rd.

That’s a weird rule. The way i interpreted it was that the 1st baseman gets to choose which bag he’s playing, and in this case, played from the green (safety) side, which means that we had to run to the “white” base. If the defender is on the “white” base", then the hitter is eligible to use the “green” base. In this case, he touched the “green” base when he should have touched the “white” base, and thus was ruled out.

It is weird, cause of the goofy double base now in place. But the runner HAD to touch the white base because of where the first baseman was playing. He could’ve blasted the dude cause essentially he was blocking the path. My point though was he didn’t need to go back and touch any base, because he was forced inside as there’s no choice unless he was to blast the first baseman and knocked him on his butt. It’s like when you round the base, then you have to get back cause then you can get thrown out if you don’t get back to the base. But since runner had no choice then he should NOT have to retouch first base.

Correct but remember this only applies during a dropped third strike scenario… sometimes the ball ends up in fair territory and sometimes it ends up in foul territory and thus the angle of the catchers throw and the first baseman’s choice of which bag he wants to utilize. Somehow I knew this because it came up early in the season at one of the first few games.
