OSU Baseball: Cowboys Swept in Lawrence

OSU is 1-6 in Big 12 play.

Their Sunday starter was from Bixby. I guess we couldn’t afford him either?

Not Josh’s fault for our inadequate pitching, blame it on play for pay brought about by Notre Dame lawsuit.
Might cost Josh’s job if this keeps up for next 2 seasons.

“Not Josh’s fault for our inadequate pitching”

Blaing pitching is the lazy, uninformed narrative. Its not the pitching thats the problem. OSU;s offense is dead last in Hits. Dead last in Avg. 12’th in Runs Scored. You may say that they have played fewer Conf games which accounts for the overall Hits, which is fine. They also have the 3rd most strikeouts at the plate. This isnt solely on Rob Walton.

LOL, Walton has stunk it up for a while. 5/12/11, good pitching, you think? I’ll agree, hitting isn’t there either, but reason why we haven’t been back to the CWS in a long time is pitching.

You need a little lesson in comprehension. The title is referring to the sweep this weekend, which is this years team. I said the blame “isn’t solely on Rob Walton”

But the stats/numbers clearly show that the worst part of this particular team is the offense. Not the pitching

Go back the last 4/5 seasons. Again, the narrative is that the pitching sucks. “Walton has stunk it up for a while” Well, you guys are wrong. In the last 4 years, the OSU pitching staff has led the in strikeouts thrown EVERY YEAR. They also have had the best ERA in the league 21’ & 24’. They had the 3rd & 6th best in 22’ and 23’.

I know what you said, so what, no one made you an expert. You need to check your OWN reading comprehension, Evelyn Woodhead! What is it about 5/12/11 that you don’t understand? If you think it’s easy to score 6/13/12 then you need to try hitting college pitching. :joy_cat: :joy: :sob: Is that you, Rob???

@teatown “you need to try hitting college pitching” Expert? Of course not. But, I did hit .366 over my 2 year Big 12 career. So I have a little bit of knowledge on the subject ;). But even if I never swung a bat, the numbers are what they are. You can be a moron and cry about the pitching…but its statistically been better than the hitting in recent years. I love both Rob and Josh. But one guy is catching some more heat than the other, and that is an uninformed take.

Cry about this: https://okstate.com/news/2025/4/1/cowboy-baseball-drops-midweek-contest-at-missouri-state

Yeah this post just soldified how little you know of college baseball and how the Miss. St’s of the world treat midweek games as opposed to how the “big boys” treat them.

Are you familiar with the Arkansas Razorbacks? Theyre a pretty good ballclub. Currently the #2 team in the country. Missouri State beat them last week. At Arkansas. 14-13. So if you are somehow trying to illustrate last nights 10-8 loss as an example of poor pitching…id be a little more concerned with punching out 15 times to midweek arms than I am giving up 10 runs with my midweek arms. But its not your fault, I dont expect you to understand basically anything about college baseball

Does it really matter which aspect is to blame? Whether it be pitching or hitting, both are responsible for being dead last in conference as the pre-season favorite to win the thing. At this point, clean house and start over. This coaching staff needs to go. It starts at the top with Josh who has become mediocre like Gundy.

In the grand scheme, youre right. But the narrative with the other moron on this thread is that its Rob/Pitching. I said in the first post that this “isnt solely on Rob Walton”. Pitching hasnt been great recently, but its ■■■■ sure been better than most realize.

I have defended Josh. On this site and in my personal life. Hell I even got into some discussions with an OU baseball coach a month ago about Josh. I certainly have some egg on my face today. I cant defend whats happening right now, in any phase. I do know that Tom has been calling some boosters talking NIL stuff in the last 48hrs. I know of 2 that have for sure.

This thing certainly appears to be broken. I think its a handful of factors that are making this a bit of a perfect storm. I think OSU people like to say that OU football is going to be Nebraska. Well, OSU baseball people need to worry about becoming Wichita St.

For the record, neither of those is going to happen

@teatown

That terrible pitching staff in Stillwater over 27 innings gave up 12 hits, 5 Runs (4 earned) in a sweep over what was the best team in the Conf.

Now I have egg on my face. A 3 game sweep of K-State was not on my bingo card. :joy:

Dude, that came out of nowhere. The Big 12 isnt very good, and OSU can absolutely win this thing. They need to get 2 of 3 this weekend to keep it rolling.

No one did   Hopefully, this is the start of a turnaround.

Winning the conference is nice. Winning in Omaha is nicer.
