A look at where the Cowboys are projected to land going into the weekend.
Baseball and softball are both hugely disappointing this year. They were both supposed to win the conference. Surely that’s why Rob “retired”
Pitching depth seems to be the problem this year. Every team is looking for dominating pitching. We have the facilities, but do we have the NIL money to entice enough elite pitchers to come to Stillwater?
This team doesn’t deserve a spot at regionals.
Why don’t they deserve a spot? Did they hurt your feelings?
Interesting that we’re paired with Alabama in 2/3 scenarios - once with them as a host and once with them as a 2 seed.
Just be happy if they actually do get in.
It’s not about feelings. This TEAM- pitching, batting, defense, coaching- has not put together a complete enough season. Not enough good wins, too many bad losses. It’s that simple. They don’t deserve a spot. Just my opinion. Not worth any more or less than yours.
Agreed. Most disappointing OSU teams for 2024-25:
- Football
- Baseball
- Softball
It amazes me how many “fans” get on here and dog our teams. It has definitely been a down year in all sports but why not be excited that this team put it together at years end (one of the top teams in the country over the last month) and if they can keep it going have a real chance to advance. Loyal and true falls really short with a lot of y’all.
I consider it facing reality head-on, calling a spade a spade, and maintaining high expectations.
How is it maintaining high expectations when we have people saying we don’t deserve a post season bid?
I think that would fall more in the calling a spade a spade and facing reality categories. That being said, we should expect more from this program and calling that out doesn’t mean we can’t also be “loyal and true”. They aren’t mutually exclusive.
When someone writes we don’t deserve to be in the post season when we lost one game in all of May (not counting Big 12 tournament), I wouldn’t say that’s loyal and true. Realistic expectations would be, “we’ve been pretty freaking good lately, hopefully we can keep it up and make a great run. It might have taken the entire season, but we’re starting to live up to expectations.”
Hey, for me whether we “deserve” it or not is irrelevant. We’re in and Josh needs to find a way to take advantage of that. Will I watch/monitor the games? Absolutely. Will I continue to support the program? Absolutely. However, based on recent history I’m not holding my breath we’ll make it far. That’s what you call facing reality.
So when Eddie Sutton refused to accept the NIT tournament while he was coach was just not loyal-and-true.
No, because that was a team decision and they earned the right to go or not go. How does that correlate to what we’re talking about here?
It wasn’t a team decision. Eddie said he had never coached in the NIT and was interested in starting.
It was a team decision, I was in the room as a team manager. He left it up to the team to decide.
Crickets after that butt kicking today, huh?
