@robert28 I know the players won’t mind not having a spring game. Spring ball is a real grind. The boys are just ready to be done by then. Most fans won’t like it but I’m ok with it.

That’s absolutely, 100% false. The guys that would be playing in the game LOVE playing it. Most of those guys are getting a chance to run with the 1’s, compete for a job, put something on tape, in a live bullet situation. This ain’t high school brotha. The guys getting the majority of the reps haven’t been in that situation much so they absolutely welcome it.

The ONLY player/players that wouldnt mind missing the Spring Game are the veteran/seasoned guys. The rest of your roster LOVES this opportunity. There are only so many reps to go around during the regular season and the bulk of those are given to the 1’s. You mean to tell me that those QB’s wouldnt want a chance to come in and run the show for 60 snaps in as close to a live-game situation as you can get? You dont think the incoming guys want a chance to show what they can do in a game situation as opposed to during a practice?!?!?! Not to mention it being an opportunity for the new DC to run through some terminology with his staff. You need to find different guys to talk to because theyre leading you astray on this one

Not being lead astray at all. Conversations are different between fans, friends, media, etc. than they are with a parent. Sure some will, but a lot won’t mind.
They absolutely are. I was a D-1 athlete (albeit baseball), will be the parent of one come Aug, and have trained/worked with several who were/are D-1 athletes (including a couple currently at OSU). Any athlete wants to compete. They also want to play EVERY SNAP/PITCH. If a dude is telling you hes glad the he doesnt have to compete in the Spring Game hes either a veteran/returning starter or an absolute bum who wont last long

I can understand the vets not wanting to mess with a spring game, but if too many guys are not welcoming opportunities to compete and prove themselves, then you have a team of guys who will end up losing games…a lot of games.

We haven’t had a spring GAME in about 5 years, what are you talking about?
