Dee Lockett remained unbeaten with a last-second takedown against No. 6 Downey.
It appears this squad is more consistently good across weight classes, which is reflected in the team scores. But it doesn’t seem like we have as many guys who are #1-3 in their WC, so I wonder if we will have fewer national champions or AAs this year, even though the team overall is better than last year.
Would love any wrestling experts to weigh in!
I don’t know what WC is but come us at the official wrestling forum for plenty of experts and speculation!
Lockett and Merrill both need to take more chances to score. Eventually those close matches will catch up to them, esp in postseason. Of course we want them to both to win titles. Lockett especially has very good TD technique and obviously the competition is a lot greater at the levels these two freshmen have been used to, even at world tournaments, change from freestyle at those to folkstyle in college is obviously a factor. Forrest being so dang dominant since he started competing at oSu is going to make it hard to RS him, but personally I hope Taylor does cause we don’t have a chance to win a natty this season, but the following four seasons.

Anybody have an opinion on what guys like Cael Hughes, Rin Sakamoto, and some of the others who are not getting any mat time will do after this season? Gone next season to another program or staying???
By “WC” he means weight class.
I don’t see a place for Hughes , especially with what’s coming in,…,..I know he’s been injured but I see him leaving. This is Spratley last year ? I think we have a recruit at his weight that’s been nails lately… Dee has to start his offensive earlier , Merril too
