I was on a delayed flight so I missed the premiere. I’m looking forward to watching it after work today. But it seems like I might be disappointed based on your review 
I give 4-8 more seasons. It’s really gone downhill.

I saw Survivor premiere got 4.5 million live viewers. It was CBS’s top show, but that is not saying much. 4.5m viewers is way down compared to what it used to get. You could have a research mouse running on a wheel and a million zombies would probably watch that 
While I still haven’t seen the premiere of this season, overall I think all the rule changes and cutting down on the numbers of days and physicality has made it more akin to Big Brother (an entirely social game) instead of the raw athleticism and physical strategies it incorporated up until maybe the last 3 or so years. Cutting the number of days on the island was the biggest mistake IMO.
Agreed. I also was a fan of the location really being more a part of the show back in the day but that really has disappeared with their arrangement in Fiji. Also it’s kind of funny to me that they still offer $1 million. They should be up to two based on inflation.

Okay, @FoCoPokeOh and @CowboyJ the verdict is in: I watched the latest Survivor first episode recording. 
Perhaps it was just confirmation bias based on what I saw here first and my preconceived notions about rule changes I already stated that I think significantly changed the show to the worse.
But, specific to this year, I just didn’t find anyone in the cast that really stood out in a way that will hook me into addictively watching like before. Usually there is always at least 2-3 castaways that grab my attention. Thus, even if the show, itself, is diluted, you as least have someone to “root for”. But it just did not have that draw this time.
