Pac-12 Reportedly Likely to Remain at 12 Schools and Not Expand

Might as well go all in on basketball and try to win some natties. In both scenarios Osu would not have the recruiting to hang in the playoff with the big boys and would have to win their conference and hope to still get in. It is what it is. Hard times for osu football coming and you just have to admit it if the choices are rebuild big 12 or AAC.

The only thing these tv networks make any profit off of is the nfl. They are all digging a hole , but that’s what our country has been doing for decades

Ok, OSU-USC does create a quality matchup football-wise. So does OSU-Oregon. Those are games that I’d love to watch. But…….are those really National games that would draw a ton of TV’s or streaming? Unfortunately, the answer is likely no. OSU is easily the most attractive program left in the Big 8 (12). But outside of here locally, they just don’t have the following or marquee ability to warrant bringing them into the Conf. The only way a Con lf will/should add a team is if it can increase the $$ in each members pockets. That’s done by TV contracts, playoff revenue, and so on. Do you think OSU brings in enough of that to warrant adding them? Unfortunately the answer is clearly no. That’s not a shot at OSU. It’s just the bottom line.

Bingo!! What you are saying here is consistent with some others that I have listened to that have actually researched TV viewership and can quantify that OSU and some other of the remaining 8 can add value to the PAC 12. It’s not straight up obvious like adding a UT but there is value there, how much would have to be seen. Ultimately it’s up to the PAC 12 teams to vote yea or nay. With a 3/4 (I think) majority needed it seems like very tall order to get the invite though.

How much is a ticket on average? $20-30? If it is I’m that range that’s only $260-390000. What is left after expenses? Probably close to or less than nothing. Plus how many times are you going to respond to 1 post? Can you not just figure out how to edit the first one or something?

The irony of this statement is comical.

What’s so impressive about one’s level of stupidity?

If OSU and USC meet in week 9 and both are undefeated, the audience will be there.

ā€œIf you build it, they will come.ā€

I found so numbers from 2019 mite have been 18. They list 690000 revenue

Tell us u live with urself ever day.

There is just something intriguing about being extremely good at something. Hearing someone play guitar at a really high level or watching a talented artist draw. In this case it’s Robert excelling at the highest levels of stupidity.

The key point is the west coast teams get to play in the central time zone and attract a broader TV audience. The problem for PAC 12 now is that there games can be way too late for the east coast. But if USC or Oregon plays in Stilly the people who want to see those teams play can watch it and that would be against decent competition ( OSU obviously is not a cream puff team).

It is not about the audience that OKstate has or brings it’s about the audience that USC and Oregon in this example could garner by playing in a more hospitable time zone for people who live in the east coast and even the Midwest. That is a massive game changer for the pac 12. They are not just adding teams that brings a market from the respective team’s market … but broadening the market for the current crop of pac 12 teams. So the whole conference becomes a lot more valuable from a TV contract perspective

I’m fully confident that Bob Bowlsby will end up getting us into the AAC. He’s extremely good at doing nothing and making millions while doing it.

I completely agree. Everybody knows that. But you don’t offer teams/programs based on what they’d add to your Conf if they were 9-0. You add them based on what they’ll be long term. Unfortunately, the Cowboys haven’t been that type of program. No playoff appearances. 1 Conf Title in 50 years. Again, if it was strictly football records……OSU would be right in the mix. They’d step in to that Conf & be the 3rd or 4th best program today. But unfortunately that’s not adding $$$$ to the PAC 12’s pockets.

I don’t disagree. Adding OSU gets you into that market. But I’m not sure how much more $$ that adds to a TV contract. I don’t see OSU as a brand bringing in enough $$ to warrant adding them and splitting the monetary pie more than it already is. That’s why I think you’re seeing the ā€œallianceā€ being made instead of actually adding more programs. The PAC gets to schedule some games, without adding teams to their lineup & having to actually pay them like members.

It’s odd u know how to spell words u have no knowledge of their meaning

There has been a lot of talk about travel, specifically toward the pac12. No matter where we land there will be travel.
I’ve seen some of the additions to the big 12. All have us adding at least 3 east coast with byu and boise.

Today the alliance is suppose to tells what the alliance is.

Well…i have a roommate. Doesn’t pay rent. Eats me out of house and home. Expects me to be his chauffeur since, ya know…he’s 10. Gives me homework to check up on. Whole bunch of other stuff too. But, he calls me ā€œDadā€. So it’s totally worth it.
