This feels like homerism. What have you all seen from our defense that leads you to believe they will hold any P4 opponent under 30?

I don’t think we’re going to hold anyone to under 40 the rest of the year. I think we lose 41-14.
It’s largely based on Houston (which broke 30 twice this season 35 vs Rice and 36 vs Colorado).
Houston can’t pass block at all, OSU pressuring QBs is one of the defense’s strengths.
Houston has one of the worst rushing attacks according to PFF 107 (OSU is slightly better at 101). I think there’s a chance Houston’s offense will struggle as much as OSU’s because the Cougars are extremely prone to negative plays.
Their rushing stats are heavily set up by big plays (OSU’s defense has given those up, but did well against Arizona last week in that regard, despite a sloppy start).

OSU’s run defense ranks 51st in the nation according to PFF. There’s still a very realistic world where OSU’s offense implodes early and the defense gives up a huge play and the game is just the usual blowout… but I think it’s at least slightly more likely both offenses find themselves in third-and-long situations and punt back and forth for most of the day. In that scenario, I think OSU could either score a defensive or trick play TD and grind the game away.

This is our best chance for a win, but we also have a WR playing QB.
I don’t. I think our 131st ranked pass defense will give up 3rd and long all day since our 3rd down defense ranks 115th.
