Breaking down OSU’s reported OC hire.
Question. Since you all have the inside scoop and would probably know this. Did Chad Weiberg have any input to the hires for either OC or DC or did Gundy do it all in a vacuum by himself? Inquiring minds want to know. Also do you all know if any other OC’s/DC’s were considered or interviewed?
Yes please answer this. I felt attacked listening to this lol. I should have just asked the question on if he was just given criteria to go by and then he can hire who he wants still (was it they have to have a certain amount of P4 experience as a coordinator?), did they have to approve his interview requests or his hire? If all he had to do was make sure they were P4 experienced guys and thats all the autonomy they had, then that’s even more of an indictment to me on how this all went. That kind of autonomy fixes nothing from what he did before hiring no name no experience coaches. At that rate they might as well have just let him hire the same way he has been. Exercise in insanity. I’d rather them have actually made sure this wouldn’t happen after how things have gone.
to answer you both, it was made clear in the contract any potential hire Gundy would require meeting some (not all) minimum requirements. Essentially to eliminate any Nardo hires. Benchmarks like Power 4, or if G5 must meet certain data points, etc.
So he doesn’t need Weiberg’s approval for a specific hire. The person he hires just has to meet certain criteria. Correct?
Correct. Very minimum requirements to, again, avoid more unqualified D2 hires they pay a lot of money to.
