The SILVER LINING people are missing here is that Gundy doesn’t have to worry about anyone poaching his coordinators.

–reposted my comment from yesterdays 10 thoughts

Gundy’s fear of losing coordinators leads him to hire coordinators nobody else would want. Yurcich was okay. Knowles was a “blind squirrel finds a nut” deal.

Gundy says he’s still hungry, but all he really wants is comfort.

Since the brilliant idea of the H-Back it seems to have steadily gone down hill, with only Knowles presence seeming to mask and buy time for what is clearly evident today. After Dana and Wickline developed the Pistol, it seems, in IMHO, that the H-Back was a vain and misguided attempt at innovation and look at me coaching. Otherwise, why in the world with our history of fullbacks would you trade a monster blocker, running threat, and pass catcher at 6 foot 230, 240, or some of them closer to 250 for a 6’6” 250 blocker who gives up leverage and quickness and therefore constantly whiffs on blocks?

My vote, as if it counted, go two backs and lets see the Pistol, utilize the future pro TE, hit the LB in the mouth and make them keep their head on a swivel which should slow their effectiveness and let’s see some counters and trick plays to slow the pursuit.

It’s so frustrating to raise the white flag before the first snap…

Been saying this on here for at least two years. Probably longer. Well done, @jarrod

Thoughts on the pod after listening:

No amount of restructuring of Gundy’s contract was going to lead to a balance of power within the AD, BOR and Gundy. Firing Gundy was the ONLY way it was going to happen. Keeping him guaranteed that Gundy would have all the power.

This is not “hindsight is 20/20”. I said it after Gundy hired Meacham and Grantham that they were bad hires. Meacham in particular. Meach is running Dunn’s offense. Which is really Gundy’s offense. It falls apart without a dual threat QB to cover up the deficiencies and lack of creativity. Hauss made it work. Flores cannot. Spencer made it work. Bowman could not. See where I’m going here?

It makes me happy to see that more folks are accepting the reality that it’s time to move on from Gundy. Better late than never.

Does he deserve to be honored for elevating the program? Yes. Field naming? Yes. Statue? No.

Does he deserve criticism for tearing down what he built on the backs of Boone and other donors and alumni and the fanbase? You bet he does.
