@CarsonCunningham and Colby, great emergency podcast last night. The NIL for men’s basketball vs. football was eye opening and jaw dropping. Hopefully, who ever is hired to be the next HC will galvanize the donors and get the resources needed.

As for Gundy, I appreciate what he did for OSU football, but it was time. Post 2021, he was 21-21 and 11-16 in the Big 12.

Now, OSU leadership have called their shot and they better hit on this next hire. Given the current landscape of college athletics, I think it’s fair to say that this hire is the important hire in the history of the university.

Thanks fellas, enjoy your podcast -

  1. Gundy’s press conference on Monday now makes sense: Already spoken with AD and knows the options so he leads with its really hot in here then adds I expect to be here and my contract says x years and y months (what an in your face comment - he just as well have said it’s $15 M if they fire me, they can do what they want. That attitude reeks of burnout and is the opposite of - I want to and expect to be here yada yada yada). It actually sounds like a person more interested in money.

  2. Statute yes, field changed from Lewis Field, no. Sell naming rights or keep it Lewis Field. I know several have said it’s Boone Pickens Stadium and Field but all those years in the 80s they always said “Welcome to Lewis Field” - and when they were talking about naming the stadium after TBP, the Lewis Field being changed was never (IMHO purposely) broached. Conflation? Flexibility?

  1. As per the GM and perhaps KW: whomever it is must be inquisitive (research research research the best practices of other universities - especially peer institutions, and then put in a framework with oSu in mind), dynamic, intelligent, and personable.

GoPokes!!!
