A good example of what?

The post focused on the SEC and Tech was an example to the landscape changing. Is that better?
This topic/forum was created and dead two weeks before Ojo even committed. You then jumped on here and brought Tech into the conversation with the SEC. Yeah again, youre trying to move the goalposts here a bit. You got out over your skis and said something dumb and are now trying to put the toothpaste back into the tube.
You think the Big 10 is scared of or nervous about Maryland? Or Syracuse. Or Iowa? The answer is no. Those guys all signed a 5 star too. If you came on here saying Tech is trying to play the game….im with you. Theyre attempting to throw some money around. In no way is that causing any type of anger over in SEC country. Could Tech ruffle some feathers down the line? Absolutely…..if they start winning games and reeling in multiple top level classes. That has not come anywhere close to happening
Reality they have created issues this year. They were bidding up deals against blues and bigger programs which forced those schools to invest too much in some players hurting their overall roster formation.
“Reality they have created issues this year” With who?!?!? On what level?!?! They got the commitment of Ojo 33 days ago. What the hell issues has Texas Tech created by getting the commitment of one player??
“They were bidding up deals against blues and bigger programs which forced those schools to invest too much in some players”. Name me one player, on one school, that somehow was effected by Tech’s “bidding up deals”? You are really, really reaching now. You really think Tech was in all of those recruiting battles, driving up the price so much that it hurt a Bama, LSU, Texas type?? You really have no idea how this goes if you think that. Texas, UGA and so on dont have to overpay for players. Texas Tech does. I can guarantee you that UGA wasnt offering Ojo similar to what Tech did. Why? BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE TO.
“Hurting their overall roster formation” Again, you are really reaching and saying broadbrush statements that have zero validity to them.
Good question, the biggest one was a SEC QB. Any guesses?
My guess is Tech was purposely doing it to drive up prices across other positions too.
Yeah, thats another post in which you really dont say much of anything. Your opinion so far has been that Texas Tech is effecting the SEC by forcing them to invest too much….even though Tech signed a HS kid who has never played a down for reportedly $5 million. Youre continuing to get deeper and deeper….without making a single relevant point
Not at all. Do you hate tech? Is that your issue?
Not at all. Coach Tedlock is one of my favs and Coach Mcguire is as good a dude as youll come across. The notification for this site went off and when I see that you said something pretty dumb….I responded. Little did I know that you would double and triple down on the dumbasssery. This topic was about the potential NCAA Salary Cap, got into some SEC schools fighting amongst each other and was wrapped up well before Tech offered a HS kid $5mil. You obviously didnt know what this was about, when Ojo committed, or really what the SEC programs bottom lines are.
Ask your tech buddies and come back to me.
Im pretty clued in, boss. You on the other hand, are rolling out bad takes quicker than a prostitute turns tricks.
I doubt that because you would have known exactly who I was referring too if so.
Ghost stories and fish tales. Quit getting your news off of Facebook. Texas Tech isnt effecting anything in the SEC. For you to say otherwise is ignorant. No other way to slice it
Of course it’s ghosts and fish tales. Who is this expert I am speaking to?
And if only I had an account on Facebook. Not a fan of that show.
I dont claim to be an expert. But I do have first hand experience in the field of recruiting, being recruited as a player and parent. Fortunately, have still been able to go through it during the NIL era, to a lesser extent. So I feel pretty confident in what im saying. Ive got former baseball teammates that work high up within the Athletic Depts at OU, OSU, Texas Tech, Arkansas and LSU, as well as some others that arent really relevant to the convo here.
Tech is playing the game. But you are vastly, vastly underestimating the SEC and vastly, vastly overestimating what Tech has been able to do. Opinions aside, the facts are that Tech has signed one 5 star in the 24’ cycle (Micah Hudson) for a pretty lucrative deal. He then hit the portal to A&M & decided to come back once he negotiated a better deal with Tech. Why? Cause Elko isnt playing the same game that Jimbo Fisher was. Tech ponied up more cash than what a kid who caught 8 balls all season was worth, according to Elko (among others) . Tech then jumped into the Ojo game and did the same thing. They gave him a contract more than anyone else would pay a kid who has yet to take a snap. Those are inarguable facts. For you to say that Tech is causing other schools to waste money unnecessarily….is wrong. Tech is the ones spending millions on a player who caught 8 balls, left to A&M, negotiated more money, then came back….all within 15 months. \
Hey I get it. Tech has to overpay. So does OSU (see Kaydin Jones and Tajh Overton). But to somehow spin that as Tech effecting the structure of a UGA or LSU or Bama roster is a masssssive stretch.
Well good. similar here. Couple kids that played college sports 1 a power 4 football player and know several coaches around the country. My one son was recruited by several sec schools too - multi-year starter all conf type player. I know exactly how much every NIL package he was offered and the difference between SEC and other conferences. This just happened so feel like I have enough college contacts to confirm what I said. Tech coaches I know 2 and 4 players.
“To confirm what I said”…….which is that Tech is raising eyebrows in the SEC?? That because they got Ojo to commmit 34 days ago that theyre somehow causing schools to overpay??
Most assume that Ojo is a kid looking for a payday, cares more about money than development and/or winning, and doesnt want to compete. The big boys simply move on to the next player. They dont get their panties in a bunch and scream to their donors about needing more money. Theres also a higher likelihood that he leaves Tech rather than staying there and being an All-Con guy.
Im not asking for your name, nor your kids. But im curious as to what Conf he ended up at? Or school, if you care to share?
It wasn’t him I was referring to. I knew about many transfers and recruits they were going after and they definitely paid more but not as much as people write. They definitely ruffled feathers of some blues and forced some teams to overpay. Is the SEC scared of anyone today, maybe not but these highly funded schools are biting at the ankles of the bigs. Micro trends often become macro trends, so let’s see.
