The Cowboys fought in the second half, but the first was rough.
The silver lining is that we showed life in the second half and even some decent offense at times. The commentator made a good point which Lutz has said as well: we can’t allow our defense to be impacted by poor offense. Our offense clicks when our defense does, so the defense always needs to be on point, especially when (let’s face it) dealing with limited talent.
Still, it’s nearly impossible to overcome that first half performance which was one of the worst I’ve seen from an OSU team. We’ve got to find a way to start better.
32% from 3 year-to-date, yet we keep jacking it.
In conference play, it will only get tougher.
Let’s play fast but find a mid-range.
I don’t expect OSU to finish in the top hlalf of the league but I thought they’d at least be competitive. Two conference games, two blow outs. Oof
Yea well we are beyond sad. Boynton never had a team this bad, could be wrong but I doubt it. Hope the team can be coached up and get better this season.
From what I am seeing ATM they don’t belong in the b12 or even college at any level.
Boynton had some trash teams.
I already have seen enough. I have stopped watching this patchwork team. The coaching works, but the talent is not there to execute. Hopefully, Lutz can draw a better hand from the portal next time around. Javon leaves OsU and turns into Big 12 leading scorer. Coaching makes the difference.
Just in case anybody was wondering why GIA is a shell of its former self, it’s because of “fans” of this. All I ask is that you keep this same energy once Lutz gets his footing and turns things around. The program is better off without you and your ilk.
there is no denying that
Well, there is always next year. I have been saying that about Cowboy basketball for years. You cant blame the coach when the players cannot put the ball in the basket. I figure that we win 2 more games if that this year. This team just lacks D1 talent plain and simple. However, coach looks like the real deal. Give him 3 more years to recruit and right the ship.
I don’t understand you logic on “The coach is the real deal”. Here is what is on him:
- He put this team together.
- He let them keep jacking 3’s at 32%
- He does not have the semblance of an offense, like “go to the big and distribute from there.”
- We continuously help the driver, leaving 3-shooters open
We hired him so late we had very little chance of getting real talent and I suspect our NIL for basketball is ass. If we still lack talent in the next few years then we have a real problem.
I know that our talent is lacking, but I’m not sure I’m seeing any real strong coaching from Lutz either. Its not like we’re getting good shots and just aren’t good enough to hit them. We look like we’re running the same dribble-hand-off offense (with even more turnovers) that we ran under Boynton, and with lesser talent, we’re scoring even fewer points. I thought we were going to play fast, move the ball around, and jack open 3s, but instead we play slow, we turn the ball over, we jack contested 3s at the end of shot clocks, and we have zero rebounding. We’ve played 3 likely tourney teams (OU, WVU, UH) and haven’t been competitive with any of them.
Thats because there is no real talent on this team. There are no shooters on this team and we are undersized.
He had no real chance to recruit as we hired him late. And who wants to come to a team that has no chance of winning and very little D1 starting talent. He lets them keep jacking 3’s because the team can’t even hit 2 point shots reliably. We were doing just OK against mediocre schools at the beginning of the season but now in Big 12 play we don’t even belong on the same floor.
WV just spanked Iowa State which makes our loss to WV more palatable.
We also just beat Colorado.
