Kurland outscored St. Louis by 25.

In Kurland’s day, there was no 3-seconds in the lane rule, nor a goal-tending rule. Kurland could stand underneath the bucket on each end and flick opponents’ shots out by leaping and putting his hand from the front of the rim back and back over the plane. He is the reason for the two rules being instituted shortly after. My father said he once counted 19 shots by one opponent that in his estimation would have gone in.
