Dude finally realizing he’s not getting this job without experience.

He definitely deserves his shot

Exactly, he should’ve realized that from a while back. If you wanna coach, gotta go mid-level or the like and show you can coach 'em up!

He accepted the gig: Radio host Doug Gottlieb accepts Green Bay men’s basketball coaching job: Reports - The Athletic

I hope Doug does so well at Green Bay that he makes all his haters – ironically most of which are supposedly OSU alum or “OSU supporters” – green with envy. I have never understood the hate thrown at a guy who has bled orange forever. I think Doug has as much potential to succeed than any of the other random mid-tier folks that get hired.

I’m just glad we won’t have to listen to him beg for the job while having as much college basketball coaching experience as I do (none). Either he sucks or we have our next coach if Lutz sucks or leaves.

I hope Doug makes us regret not considering him. Hopefully he can recruit well and put a good product on the floor

Whether or not you agree, it’s pretty simple to see why many OSU fans and others don’t want him as their coach–he’s a clown, that’s why. He has incredibly bad takes on his radio show (hey that’s what he’s paid for) that turn a lot of people off. He has a personal history that makes him an easy target. He’s arrogant for expecting the OSU job without ever paying his dues and proving himself as a coach. His social media activity, especially his recent shrilling for Israel, open him up to criticism. All those things are probably good for his radio show, but don’t translate well for being a head coach. Even with this job at Green Bay, he’s not willing to commit 100% to being a coach. He’s kind of like Deion Sanders without the HOF career or glitz or money or likeability.

You never know. If some reason Lutz doesn’t work out/takes another job and Doug proves himself to be a good HC :man_shrugging:

Is this worth continuing to argue over at this point? I vote no. Can we all just let this go once and for all?

I really don’t know why anyone would spend a lot of time recruiting anymore with the portal open twice a year. Unless you have a chit load of money to pay everyone

Comes down to will Green Bay help buy players for him. I for one can’t wait to see how he coaches. He comes from the Eddie Sutton tree. So team defense and the ball will probably move a lot.
