Report: Former OSU Safety/Linebacker Kendal Daniels to Transfer to OU

Hey champ,

Your mom.

Hey champ,

That’s some nice spin. Are you OU’s press secretary? I’d guess we finish better in our conference than OU does in theirs next year. Don’t say stupid crap all the time.

I think K State and Baylor have a better chance of winning the Big 12 than OSU does, or OU winning the SEC. Considering both of those schools have already proven it doesn’t take them almost a decade and a half to win the conference a second time.

Which won’t happen at OU while they’re in the SEC. Nice assumption, though.

One program has history, a larger donor base, and not in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma on its side, the other doesn’t.

Cool, find a better coach and then convince them to stay once they win a few games. Or, maybe suggest a few coaches that Okstate could land that would be better than the record Gundy delivered.

You’re given 7 years for:

  1. OSU to win the Big 12
  2. OU to win the SEC

Who does it first, and which one is more realistic?

Chris Petersen won 79% of his games as a HC and won 7 conference titles. Not to mention a CFP appearance. He wasn’t at any BB school.

Mark Dantonio won 65% of his games as a HC and won 3 conference titles. Not to mention a CFP appearance. He wasn’t at any BB school.

Kenny Dillingham has only been a HC for two years and has won just as many conference titles as Gundy. He’s not at a BB school.

None of those guys were a HC for 20 years like Gundy has been. You can find those types of guys if you’re willing to invest in the search for one. Most people will look at more than just your overall win-loss record. That’s only one of the many categories of merit to look at. Let’s say Gundy decided to be the next Joe Pa.

He’s 77 years old and in his 40th year at OSU. So far, Gundy has one conference title, no CFP appearances, and just consistently makes regular bowl games. Tell me how exactly that’s benefiting the program in any significant way? When we look back at the last 40 years of OSU football will we say it was worth it, or will we regret our wasted resources and hesitation?

Obviously your criteria is win games with no conference titles. My criteria is conference titles. I believe if you win the conference, good things will happen. I don’t believe good things come from Cheez it Bowls or Pop Tart Bowls.

16 different coaches have won the Big 12. Not one of the other 15 have had more chances or been in the conference longer. Yet Gundy’s won once. We may never win it again but I am willing to try to at least move in that direction.

Did I seriously just read this? Peterson and Dantonio? Neither are coaching and both had worse records than Gundy while HCs at a major program.

Well, if we’re using “winning conference championships” as the criteria, then most coaches in the B12, aside from OU’s Stoops and Riley, followed their CCs with mediocre or losing seasons. Evidently those bowls didn’t help in the winning dept.

I guess we’ll see how many are willing to give their guy 20+ years without winning at least winning two. My guess is zero.

Petersen and Dantonio know what’s it takes to win the conference more than once, and make it to the CFP. Gundy doesn’t have either one. The fact you think Washington and Michigan State are major programs tells me you might want to do some more research on college football :+1:.
