Report: Oklahoma State Adds North Alabama Transfer Quarterback to Roster

OSU adds another quarterback.

So we have two QBs who were Gatorade players of the year in Nebraska, I believe in consecutive years. Yet even at OSU, that hotbed of QBs, neither would be a starter without an injury.

I know we’ve had Zach, Weeden and Rudolph but not on a regular basis and nothing like our Bedlam brethren to the south

I’m confused. When was the last time we added a player to the roster after the season started if ever?

If your coach is fired, you can enter the portal, immediately. UCLA and Va Tech fired their coaches. Are there better qb’s at those two power 4/FBS schools? Maybe not. But dipping down is a gamble that the fans are tired of.

not the case here with Walters

Well Nico at UCLA sucks and is going to demand a lot of money so pass on him.

Are you saying he’s good? I don’t understand your comment

Did okay with Tennessee last year. You’re right about the cost. My point is, their backups will be more desirable than an fcs qb that hasn’t played in over a year.

His coach wasn’t fired. Perhaps your comment wasn’t related to Walters. Were you suggesting we should pick up QB’s from UCLA or Va Tech?

No. Va tech and UCLA coaches were fired. 2 or 3 D1 qb’s per roster. Walters wasn’t on a roster. Apparently, grabbing one of the coach’s sons and a local talent won’t cut it for a backup. 2 in state qb’s went to big 12 schools because we didn’t want them. Maybe this Walters kid is a gamer but it seems like such a desperate move.

I think it’s just depth since we lost a QB to injury.

People trash sanders, he was actually really good. His college stats were very similar to Patrick Mahomes. He had 1 maybe 2 seasons of being healthy and led us to a big12 championship game and a bcs bowl game win. He beat OU without Warren, Played in the Big12 Championship game without Warren, and Beat Notre Dame without Warren. Least not to mention had no talented offensive line for 4 years or more. We use to crank out wide receivers and put offensive linemen in the NFL. Either Gundy can’t develop anymore or finds lower quality talent.

Quality of Talent isn’t being found or Coaching staff can’t teach or develop. Either way everything is on Gundy. A good captain goes down with his ship. Too bad we let Smith go, for a true freshman with very little reps he was a head of Flores. We need to go after Athletic and Dual threat QBs till we get a above average offensive line. These emobile QBs gonna have to run for their life.

…and, in keeping with Gundy’s schedule for bringing along QBs, this kid should be ready to play some time in 2030.

Honest question: was this kid already on campus and enrolled? If not, how long can you go into a semester before enrolling?

Still not sure why you brought up the coaching firings but it is true that the players of those teams get a special 30 day portal window to talk to other teams. However if they choose to transfer they have to wait until next year to join their new team.

Yes that is most likely it.

I guess our mistake was making the guy responsible for this our OC.

This new QB that we acquired has a couple of seasons of playing college football which has him head and shoulders above our current backups from an experience standpoint. It’s an upgrade to the QB room but I fear that it’s still woefully inadequate.

Thats all it is. That QB room needs bodies. Unfortunately, the current state of OSU football, their shallow NIL account, added to the fact that its week 4 of the season so pickings are slim…you get Noah Walters from North Alabama

Picking up the kid from NA - you gotta do what you gotta do but holy cow would it be great to have either of the qbs back from last year!

  1. is HH’s injury worse than expected? 2) Is this insurance for ZF so the playbook can be fully utilized? [I can almost see ZF keeping the first handoff to show Tulsa he WILL run: nah, that’s too predictable] 3) With the bigger backs that we have will we see more Pistol to support pass read progression? [At least more Pistol until the OL jells]

What I’m looking for against TU - 1) is ZF a gamer [we knew Josh Field’s was a gamer when as a true freshman he came in against UO  and replaced Aso? Even after dislocating his finger. 2) Do we see an actual offense and creativity or does it remain Dunn redux? [IF we go down, in any game, for goodness sakes, go down PUNCHING!】3) Will there be a modicum of continuity on offense? 4) Will we use our TEs - especially since Ford is the best athlete on the team (remember how we used to run actual plays for Alonzo Mayes because he was too good to NOT do that? - please Gundy, channel Les not Pat!) 5) Have the breakdowns in the D been addressed? Much more confidencein D. This D should dominate TU!

GoPokes!!!
