Uh why is Wozniak gone?
Should we be getting coaches from Purdue? They might have been the 1 power 4 team that was actually worse than we were this year.
Woz should have stayed. No reason to get rid of him
What happened to Vice being the OL coach ?
I mean, for all of the coaches that needed to be replaced, coach Woz wasn’t one of them. Maybe he decided to leave?
Reactionary Bad Fans: I’m so glad the board of regents got involved and is cleaning house!
Board Of Regents: (cleans house)
RBF: I don’t like this.
Coach Glass going to be next?
I don’t know if fans have a problem with cleaning house. I think the issue is that Wozniak is the one member of the staff that has an impeccable resume and production. It appears that he is being replaced by someone with a lesser resume and history. But, hey, head coaches are supposed to make changes when things aren’t working–that’s been one of the biggest criticisms of Gundy.
But it doesn’t make a lot of sense to replace the entire staff except for Gundy. If you’re getting rid of everybody, you might as well get rid of the guy at the top, too. Everyone on his staff needs to go, but him? That doesn’t hold water.
Yep. It’s almost like the administration doesn’t know what it’s doing. I hope it works, but I’m leaning toward “total disaster”.
We already saw a disaster this past and the board had ZERO to do with it. Woz and Glass were the only coaches I cared to retain the rest I am fine with hitting the reset button on.
Has anyone even contemplated that the new OC is just bringing in his people and that is all there is to it? The result being that Wozniak is just an innocent causality of massive coaching changes taking place. In the past a lot of folks were losing their minds over OC’s and DC’s not being given autonomy over their jobs. Seems like now that they do have it people don’t like that either.
Woz has had NFL running backs the entire time he’s been at OSU. He should’ve been the only offensive coach retained. The rest I am fine with being gone.
Yes, I’ve certainly contemplated that possibility, and it still sucks. It may be the only thing I agree on with Dickey boy… Woz recruited and churned out great RBs. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” There was a lot of stuff broken that needed fixing, but change for the sake of change is foolish. I just wish we had more details… Like, maybe he no longer wanted to be here. That I would understand.
Yes that.
I’m totally fine with cleaning house.
Yea collectively it seems like it is what most everyone wanted. Even those who just wanted Gundy and/or the coordinators fired had to realize that would spread to the rest of the current coaching staff. So I’m not listening too hard to folks complaining about clearing everyone out. It’s what they asked for even if they didn’t realize it.
Again, I don’t know if anyone really cares that much about position coaches being replaced. I do think Wozniak was the best coach on staff by far. But, that’s the business. Do you think that perhaps people are less than enthusiastic because the coordinators, themselves, are just kind of blah? I think defense will be better (how could it be worse than 132nd?), but Meachum doesn’t have anything in his history that makes you think he’ll be better than Dunn.
Again, I think the biggest issue is getting rid of your entire staff, but keeping the guy who’s been here 20 years, hired all of them, and famously has refused to make changes. I can’t think of a single long-term head coach who has bounced back to winning big and consistently at the same school after dropping a 3-win season. I guess maybe Joe Paterno, but we all know what he was willing to overlook to win. I’d rather OSU disband the entire athletic department and drop all sports than to do that.
Yes I think that might be true. Many have cited disappointment because they are old or have spotty careers or both. Either of those can be spun as not valid issues if one is willing to listen but in the end who knows. As far as the age thing goes no one that I can see is talking about the large number of young position coaches that have been brought in. So the coordinators are older but a lot of the positions coaches are “new school” if you will. In any case for me I’m just going to wait and see what happens next season as I’ve no clue if theses coaching hires are going to work out, there are too many variables to consider plus the fact that we are in total team rebuild mode which doesn’t help. As far as Gundy goes I see your points and they are valid. Again like everything else I guess we will see next year if any of this is going to work or not.
Meachum doesn’t run the same offense as Gundy I know. He’s had some good years depending on the talent. He runs the go-go and Gundy won’t over ride him. The mix with young position coaches isn’t bad Depends on the talent we bring in. I don’t give a dam where they come from if they can play
I’m glad Nardo, Dickey , and Rattay are gone
