I expect Smith to hit the Portal in April. Maybe Flores, too.

This is a nice get. His speed will open up so possibilities we haven’t had for a while at QB. Please let Coach Meachum bring in a super fast offense. I’m not worried about how “tired” our defense gets, let’s get back to exciting Big 12 football. Make it a place kids want to come play.

I know we lost our incoming recruit so since he has 4 years left that is hopefully a great find for us since the other guy decommitted.

Always good to add depth but I still want to see Flores and this guy play before we anoint a new starting QB.

This one could be a gem of a get if he pans out. Obviously someone has to go at some point. We might keep them all at least through the next season. I hope so.

Rangel, Flores, and Smith. Then we bring in a JUCO QB and maybe an FCS backup for depth.

Rangel can’t be the QB next year, unless we are a very unserious football team. One decent half of football amongst a bunch of poor performances is what we have with him. He’s a nice safety net, but he just is not THE guy.

Hauss didn’t even attempt a pass this year and already this band of pirate bloggers is ready to have all the current quarterbacks walk the plank. Let’s just see what unfolds in spring practice before we anoint anyone QB1

You are correct in that there are still a lot of questions about him. If I understand it correctly he got his limited playing time at TCU because of his legs, they put him in for his ability to run. Does that call into question his passing ability? Not sure. The other question that I have is his reasons for leaving TCU. I would very much like to hear about that. For now what we have is a relatively sought after 4-star QB who is unproven at the college level.

Completely agree with you — with the caveat that it can be anyone besides Rangel as QB1. Leaving us with 3 good options that can stay onboard the ship.

Yea I’d couch it as having 3 potentially good options at this point. Haven’t seen enough of any of them to call them good for sure.

HH has no more experience than Flores. So after the chosen one is selected, we then see 3 QBs in the portal. Should be Flores vs HH this Spring.

As long as we’re not stuck with another Alan Biwman or Ethan Bullock.

I don’t think they would demand much being they didn’t have any tape on their selves. All three staying says they really like it here or no one came calling
