The Cowboys add a defensive lineman out of the ACC.
A back up at Virginia.
Curious how a backup at Virginia becomes a major part of the defense for Oklahoma State?
This is all osu can afford. Even if gundy strikes gold one year with Idaho state players we will get blown out first play off game every time. Can’t compete in big time college football with this kind of money and being in this conference with a 90 year old coach that’s average now at best. Osu football has dropped out of site. Thanks Boone for 2011.
You could give Gundy $200 million and he’d be trying to prove he can do it with 2 and 3 stars .
All these cheerful, optimistic, positive comments…why WOULDN’T players want to be here with such devoted, encouraging fans. You people…
GO POKES!!
Even pissed off people renew their season tickets and show up to games.
Indiana & Arizona St. both went 3-9 last year. Made the playoff this year. Boise St and SMU are in it this year as well. If those 4 can ALL GET IN THIS YEAR, then OSU can as well. Getting in the playoff is a big deal, regardless of how you fare when you get there. Losing 34-33 every year is the same as losing 35-0. If the OSU program is to a point at which getting to the playoff isnt good enough…then congrats. Youre a bigtime program
I’d say he needs to prove he can make the CFP first before saying he would get blown out.
I don’t. In fact, I’m a results based guy. If you keep proving to me you’ll waste my time it doesn’t take me long to believe you. The WV game was the last straw for me. Didn’t go to a game the rest of the season.
The last home game, my son and I worked concessions for his band trip or we wouldn’t have gone. Senior Day be damned.
Cowboy football is not doomed because of Gundy. NIL ruined the game for all schools that have limited money. Get excited from Cowboy wrestling which has the money from Paycom to lure top talent. How else does a school justify $1 million for head coach, and half a million for assistant coaches?
Fooling yourself if you don’t think Dumby’s largely responsible, but believe what you want.
Who’s the coach that doesn’t like the portal, NIL. and went winless in the conference this season? Who’s the coach that is committed more to loyalty than getting rid of coaches in a timely manner? He’s becoming Gary Patterson.
Yes. Look at OU. They have significantly more money than we do and they’re pulling in people from Nobody State, couldn’t pay Gabriel, but OU is probably the 9th, 10th(?) best funded school in the SEC.
The Big XII is becoming a farm league, and we’re probably middle of the pack in NIL funding in the Big XII. We’re going to have to get creative with the portal.
@heychamp OU pulling guys from Nobody State…In 2023 OU signed 17 guys from the portal. 10 were from Tennessee, Texas, Michigan, Stanford, Texas Tech, OSU, Indiana, South Car, A&M, & ND. In 24’ they signed 16. 9 were from TCU, Washington, SMU, Baylor, USC, Utah, FSU, Purdue and Mich. St. So far this portal season theyve signed 9 and 3 were from Arkansas, Stanford and Wash St, which includes the top overall portal player (Mateer) 22 of 42 have been from reputable schools.
I like to see where these guys that leave a school end up and what kind of impact they have. This is the first year in which OU has had a large number of guys end up at bigger, potentially better places. Thats troubling to me as an OU fan.
“Couldnt pay Gabriel”. Youre showing some ignorance here. You do realize that OU pays their QB’s very well. If theres a criticism to make between OU’s handling of Gabriel its that they chose to pay Jackson Arnold instead of Gabriel. OU will pay top dollar to a QB. They just chose the wrong guy to pay and the wrong guy to let walk
“OU is probably the 9th, 10th(?) best funded school in the SEC” Who outside of Texas, Bama and LSU are “funded” better than OU? Are you talking about spending NIL money? OU is on par with about 95% of the schools in the country when it comes to NIL spending. There are a handful that are handing out $$ like its candy, but to insinuate that OU has a funding that is 9th or 10th in the SEC is also ignorant.
No ignorance at all. The top funded schools (Texas) are paying big bucks to multiple QBs.
Arkansas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M (probably the best funded of any of them), Georgia, Florida, I’m starting to think South Carolina, Missouri, and Mississippi State are better funded than maybe we thought. MIss State’s portal class is ridiculous. Now, more money doesn’t automatically mean better, but I think those schools are throwing down more dollars than OU or at least closer than we may have thought.
“No ignorance at all. The top funded schools (Texas) are paying big bucks to multiple QBs” Ok, WILLING to pay multiple QB’s is not the same thing as being CAPABLE of paying multiple QB’s. OU has and does pay big money for QB’s, including John Mateer whom they just signed. As do many of the big programs. I have no clue where youre getting that from.
A&M is abslutely a “have”. Leaving them out is oversight on my part. Again, FUNDED is not the same thing as tossing NIL dollars around. You said “Nobody U” and act like OU couldnt pay Dillon Gabriel. Thats just not true.
Tulsa world
Sep 26, 2024 — It is said that OSU’s Alan Bowman has NIL compensation that amounts to about $400,000
What does that have to do in relevance to OU paying QB’s?
