Unfiltered Gundy goes to bat to swat down rumors he feels are just that: rumors.
Whatever Mike…
I don’t know. I guess if I were making 8 mil a year, and people aren’t exactly happy I might tend to give a sh** just a little bit about what they’re thinking. Especially since they’re alums, donors, and the ones attending the games. Not very many people are going to attend games when you produce a product they don’t have confidence in. I’m sure that’ll be the fans and alums fault then.
My response is the same as it was at the end of the season when the state was in turmoil and rumors were everywhere .
I’ll be worried if this upcoming season is worse . If are record isn’t better than last year I’ll worry. Right now it looks like our schedule is setup to be somewhat easier but who knows ?
Right now I could see us 7-6 but I could also see us at 11-2 .
I just don’t see 11-2 for this season. I think our ceiling is 8-4 with a slight chance at 9-3.
We’re breaking in a QB that hasn’t made any meaningful snaps in four years. Not to mention we lost two draft picks on defense that’s been replaced by a D2 DC that has no experience on the D1 level. You can also go ahead and add in the facts that the OL is still a big question mark, and we still have Dunn as our OC and Dickey as our OL coach. Did I also mention we don’t really know how good our incoming transfers will be?
This may come across as negative to a few people, but I’m just being cautious. Given the schedule one would think they shouldn’t be any worse than 8-4. But hey, I could be wrong. Maybe Bowman ends up being the next Weeden. Maybe we find a way to rush the ball for more than four yards per rush. Maybe we actually use a tight end this season to our advantage. Maybe we’ll be a top 100 defense. The sky is the limit.
I think it would be the opposite. It’s called F you money and I’m sure HCMG has plenty by now. Now for the record I’ve got no problems with HCMG’s attitude. If his approach doesn’t work out the admin can fire him and according to the article he is fine with that.
At this point in time to me the patch work team rebuilding scheme that they did via the portal to replace all those starters who left has us in uncharted waters as far as I am concerned. I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up looking like Kansas, the Kansas from a couple of years ago. This is one of the first up coming seasons where I have no clue or opinion on how good or bad we will be.
I just get tired of him talking about culture. The cowboy Way. That’s what is a bunch of BS. It’s hard to take him serious talking about culture and then doing the right thing. Gundy need to take a look in the mirror at his own personal decisions before he starts giving advice to these young men on how they should act. But I’ll tell you what’s bigger money than colleg football. That’s college. Take a look at the increased applications at TCU. It’s crazy. If you think that President Shrum doesn’t notice that, you’re crazy. He can’t get away with some of these stunts when you’re seven and six or six and seven every year.
Like in true fashion.
“Resolute” is not an adequate synonym for “bullheaded”, “stubborn” or “ignorant”. The Athletic shouldn’t have even spoken to Gundy. If he thinks we’re bouncing back this season, he’s sadly mistaken. We need a new head coach before he completely tears apart everything he’s built. 1 Big 12 title in 17 seasons ain’t it. This program has been elevated to “fairly consistent”. Not “great”, not “elite”, not “championship contenders” every season. 2023 feels no different than 2003. We aren’t any further along.
Cool. Now maybe we can get someone who will actually want to win something for 8 mil a year.
I always love it when some talks about culture. Go listen to any other coach their saying the same stuff now.
Stranger things have happened. It would be typical Gundy fashion to over achieve on a year where he’s counted out though wouldn’t it ?
I’d see us losing to ou and k state . Even though ou is “rebuilding” too . Cincy has a new head coach, Dana hasn’t been doing so hot, ucf and byu are unknowns to me even though byu okayed Baylor great last year it seemed like Baylor fizzled after winning the league over us the year before .
TT could totally up the league this year tho
Yep you are correct, culture does matter, all the elite teams have it.
I’d keep regurgitating the same message too after a 7-6 season and 8 million bucks later.
Georgia might disagree with all their players getting in trouble with the law or doing reckless shitt and killing people.
We didnt have culture last year. They called a player only meeting half showed up
We lost guys we dnt need.
You keep your moronic thoughts.
Don’t know anything about Georgia and there are exceptions to everything, doesn’t mean what is generally true isn’t. To claim otherwise yea not too smart. And finally who is to say that Georgia didn’t have the culture in the locker room to win.
We didn’t have any coaching last year either. Blame injuries all you like, but finishing 1-5 and barely beating the worst team in the conference, that didn’t have a pulse offensively, tells you everything you need to know. You’re right. Gundy just lost half his highly talented recruits in the best recruiting cycle he’s had since 2011. We didn’t need them .
