Two Cowboys are headed to Slovakia.
Way to go Cowboys!!! Really proud how everyone did and I’m really looking forward to getting in front of a tv and watching these matches instead of seeing clips on my phone while at work.
Landon’s a stud! Ronnie looked really good in the first match I watched of his. LaDarion came back strong from his disappointing NCAA’s, and that’s super important for him and for our team as well. Michael White came back on the backside to win some good matches. Kody did great against some good talent.
but guys…DRESHAUN ROSS!!! THE MAN!!! The guy has barely been pushed on the mat for the last couple of years of his career and he suffers a huge blow from Coby at the US Open. How he came out today was gonna say a lot about what kind of young man we were getting out of Ross. What does he do when he gets pushed to the limit? Well, when he has a month to prepare in the best wrestling room in the country, HE WINS! Can’t wait to see the U23s tomorrow and how Landon and Dreshaun do at U20 Worlds!
Robi is a scrapper, just tough gritty guy and to beat Miller by a 17-0 in two matches is great. Hope Swider, Spratley and another one can compete it tomorrow. Ross is a stud , Merrill is about as wide as tall an absolute block. DT and Wyatt probably tuned on Ross to avenge that loss. Going to be a great rivalry Dang seems like Dee runs out of gas every time, but it’s much better
Big shout out to DT and assistants for making us the best
Spratley wins his way giving up 0 points the whole way. Berge wins too
Great stuff !!! Swider gives up a takedown with 20 left in the semis. Dang he just can’t wrestle smart. Anyway good showing for all !! Congrats to them all Go Pokes ![]()
I agree with you in Ladarion’s gassing issues but I think the great thing to look at is how hard he wrestled and how he presented himself. Didn’t do the crawling on the mat thing he does, didn’t get belligerent after a tough loss. Some real maturity there. He wrestled really good as well. Never let up. For anyone with FloWrestling, go watch Michael White’s matches at this tournament. The kid is hungry, strong, and always on the offensive. The matches he lost I think is just because he’s such a novice at freestyle (this is his fourth year of wrestling TOTAL) and got laced up. But some of his takedowns in the Aaron Stewart match are AMAZING.
I can agree with you that Dee has improved and attitude is much better I happened to run across Dee’s final in 25 against James. I thought he was better then than now No gas issues, was agressive I think this past year he lost some confidence. He wasn’t ever challenged in HS… if he will stay hooked if anyone can get him on top of the podium, DT will Supremely gifted
I see what you’re saying but you also can’t deny the gains in growth from 16 years old to 17 years old Jayden Jaymes had. He’s a completely different wrestler from last year in strength and body maturity. I also think you might be right that he has lost some of that young confidence he had last summer. But that’s part of maturing, you lose some of those blind faith benefits. Hopefully his faith and belief in himself and his coaches will get him to an even better all around sporting mindset to achieve more. Lockett has so much potential in his athleticism and his wrestling skill. I think and hope he’ll put it together. And the amount of movement at the higher weights I hope helps him fine tune as well. Kody Routledge was really the only one backing him up at 165. Now you got Swiderski and possibly Facundo gunning for the position to start. He’s gonna have to fight to start. That can go either way, and it mainly tests his resolve and maturity.
Maybe he needs a redshirt season ? I’ve seen others do it with just as skilled kids , Cale especially. He would have to be talked into it, maybe clear the room out some. DT will always try to recruit over you I’m sure
I could see that going either way for Dee’s psyche. It would have to hurt, but if he’s mature about it, it could pay dividends to work in the room nonstop. Who would you put at 165? Routledge? Facundo if Lorenzo Norman takes 174? I guess Swiderski has also thrown his hat in the ring at that weight. Dang our room is deep!
I love Swider , just don’t think he’s strong enough for that weight. If so he’s been pulling a lot !!! How many times have we seen Cale put guys in redshirt to make the next years team stronger ? We aren’t real strong in the upper weights other than Cody ? Is Ross out heavyweight ? That weight doesn’t have a strong returning bunch so I say yes !!’ ![]()
