A sad day for many Pokes’ fans.
I think he would have produced amazing numbers in Coach Morris’ offense. Hopefully this means Hawkins is coming.
Yeah Fields hitting the portal gives me the assumption that Hawkins is coming. I wish him well.
Hawkins and Fields as RB shuttle would’ve been amazing. Wish the kid well, but probably making a mistake to leave.
One of the guys I would’ve liked to keep along with Wendell Gregory.
Waited for Friday and a little clarity, and should, perhaps, waiting another week before comments would be apropos, but Marvin Gaye is looping in my brain - “what’s going on”?
Did MG tinkle down his leg so much that the program is literally burnt to the ground? I thought there was much more to salvage. Really have some questions about this new GM, hope he doesn’t fulfill the Peter Principle… with that said, if this is what the new college sports has truly come to it may be time for me to reassess resources. ??? Color me very disappointed.

This is going to be marathon, not a sprint. The portal just opened today and will close in a month. These players are going to visit multiple schools before making any decisions (just like they do when being recruited out of high school). Just have to take a wait and see approach.
Why? First of all, you don’t know what was said. Maybe Morris encouraged him to leave for all we know. Secondly, if he’s good, he can bet on himself and be good elsewhere. Third, maybe he wants to start and he isn’t going to settle for someone bringing a starter in with them.
First of all, you don’t know what was said. Look in the mirror. Morris encouraged him to leave is LAUGHABLE!
Why? 50+ guys in the portal tells me he wants to clean house, allocate his money to the guys he wants. I think he probably told Gregory to go too. Or cut their NIL offer down. All these guys announcing their departure are thanking Gundy and not mentioning Morris. I think he’s restructuring the NIL (or the GM is) and doesn’t want any big holdover money.
Just saw he’s going to Kansas State
Well, you dont go in and encourage a player to leave. But you can paint a picture of what his usage will look like. Nowadays, you paint a picture of what his NIL will look like. Both you and the player know what that will look like going fwd. Its semantics really. Your wife says shes tired…but shes really not. That kinda deal
You might be correct, but I think most coaches can see that Fields has some skills and could even better than what he showed with us, simply being on a better team w/ better blockers, plays, and esp a passing game that takes a lot of pressure off the running game!
Exactly. You say your NIL deal is going to be significantly less than what it was and that would be encouraging someone to leave imo.
