A deeper look at four potential candidates.
Give me Morris and bring his QB with him!!!
I agree, Morris 100%. It would be nice to have someone who knows a good qb when he sees one.
Based on that analysis it doesn’t appear we could go wrong with any of them.
I love Klein, but hes going to get a bigger offer than OSU. Pass on Golesh. Pass on Robinson. Morris is who I think the next HC is going to be. I know for a fact that he (not his representative) has had communication with some people involved with OSU. Now, thats not some groundbreaking information as im sure all of these have at least kicked the tires on the OSU job. But I thought it was interesting that it was Morris himself, rather than the agent.
I just want someone who believes he can come to Oklahoma State and win Big 12 titles and can make the CFP. Not every single year, as that’s not realistic, but once every 3-5 years. It’d be nice if the next coach also had the NIL support to do so. Otherwise, what I’m asking for will never happen.
Youll absolutely get that. Any coach coming in had better think he can do at OSU what ASU, Utah, Iowa St, TCU, KState and so on are trying to do. OSU is swimming in the same NIL waters as everyone in this league not named Texas Tech or BYU. I think a good bet would be who makes more CFP appearances over the next 10 years OU or OSU?
I would be happy with any of the 4. However, Robinson is a clear #4 in my book of these candidates. I primarily would like a college coach who is familiar with the current landscape, and ideally somebody who can bring some talent with them.
Klein might be my #1 choice, but I am scared that A&M might be playing late into the postseason and he wouldn’t be able to join OSU in time for recruiting. That might be enough for me to instead want Golesh or Morris.
But again, I do think any of the 4 I would be very happy with and will put my full support behind!
Morris voter here. Was on GJ Kinne way before anyone, but Morris has had much better results.
OSU starts from absolute rock bottom next year regardless of who the next head coach is. OU does not regardless of whether or not they keep BV. With an easier schedule next year, and assuming Mateer and Arbuckle are back…I’d say OU gets first crack at CFP. Not sure who gets there more often in the next 10 years. It depends on how quickly our new coach can rebuild with better NIL money. And it depends on how much longer BV is there. Oh yeah, and conference realignment. There are so many moving parts that it’s a tough bet. ![]()
My initial thought was OU as a no-brainer. But man I dont know. BV HAS to get in next year, with returning probably 16-18 of 22, which in the portal era is CRAZY numbers. The schedule lightens up too. But the question is I guess is it easier to finish in the top 4 of the SEC or the top 2 of the Big 12?

BV needs to let Arbuckle go get his own WR coach, RB coach, TE coach and OL coach. Offense has been a mess this year. He’s pissing away great defenses because of horrible offenses. Like Linc in reverse. If he doesn’t fix that, he won’t be there much longer. Top 2 in Big 12 is easier. Top 4 in SEC is much tougher.
DeBoer isn’t going anywhere. Kiffin stays in conference no matter what. Heupel isn’t going anywhere. Kirby isn’t either. That’s 4 coaches right off the bat who are better than BV.
All of those are currently better HC’s than BV. All of that is subject to change, as it always does. I personally think Deboer is great. Kirby is, IMO, coming back to the pack. Kiffin is really good as an OC. I actually like him. But were gonna see if he can do it at his next destination. Hes been really good the last couple of years at Ole Miss. Lets just see what happens in the next couple of years. Heupel is 23-14 in Conf. I think hes just a guy. Very similar to what BV is in my opinion. One is just a little better right now at seeing the bigger picture, which is Heupel. BV is a great X/O guy. His downfall has been making a really, really bad hire in Seth Littrell. It may end up being what gets him fired
I’m surprised none of the Gundy fans have come on here and told you that’s not realistic like they tried doing to me.
Well in the next 10 years the playoff may very well expand to 16 teams, not sure who that helps more. SEC seems like about 4 a year with 12 teams, s might go to 5.5 with 16. B12 is maybe 1 to 1.5 with 12 teams so maybe 2 to 2.5 with 16.
I think its expanding, without a doubt. Too much money to be made. I think that helps the Big 10 and SEC more than anybody else. I dont think theres ever going to be a scenario in which the Big 12 gets 3 teams in. That means the two big boys (SEC/Big 10( are likely getting shorted. and that aint happening
It all depends on their records. SEC/B10 win all ties but with the SEC going to 9 conference games that league will endure 8 more lossses in conference play. Sure most of them will be by teams in the bottom half. But there will be extra matchups between teams in the top half as well.
When it expands, there will be some sort of guarantee made for the Big 10/SEC in terms of an allotment being made for those two Conf’s. Neither of those wouldve agreed to add a 9th Conf game if they didnt get some sort of assurance of an additional seat at the playoff table.
Shrink it down to 8 teams. BCS formula. Take the polls out of it. Simple solution, but will never happen because reasons…like money.
