No one (this is hyperbole which you have trouble detecting, so I recognize that some, though a very small percentage of sports fans) watches college baseball or softball, so talking up the “greatness” of a 15th tier (probably not hyperbole) sporting league is a “wild take”. The other leagues you mentioned have more parity. College football has less parity than probably any other major sport. Pro leagues are all college all-star teams. College basketball only requires a school to get five good players together or to play well as a unit. Small schools can put together teams with deep postseason runs or occasionally even win it.
Ok, well TCU-UGA had literally 5-8 million fewer viewers than every season since the COVID year. The viewership was down during the COVID season (still higher than UGA-TCU) despite it being a marquee-type matchup, but I’m guessing that’s due to the weird truncated season and less build. TCU-UGA also had lower viewership than every single BCS national championship and has about half the viewership of USC-Texas and Alabama-Texas. Yeah, I get that you don’t like hyperbole or understand it or whatever, but when it’s the lowest rated championship game since I-don’t-know-when because I’m not going to look pre-1990s, I feel pretty good in saying it had “no hype”. Meanwhile, my prize fights… 26 million people watched Alabama beat Notre Dame’s brains in 42-14. Which is my point. No, you can never guarantee a good game, but you can make the game people want to watch and guarantee the good hype.
Sooo…the ratings were lower for a 58pt blowout between TCU-UGA than a 42-14 between two of the most iconic brands in college sports? In other news, water is wet. It was the worst blowout in the finals since the format took place. What do you expect?? Comparing that blowout to the USC-Texas game, which has had a 30 for 30 made over it and is the most watched college football game in history…is foolish. 17 million viewers is still pretty ■■■■ good. And I conceded that not all of the matchups end up being great. You tend to get blowouts. OU-USC in 04. Dud. USC-TX the next year, classic.
Ketchup “Boise St & Colorado are not “factors” in Texas recruiting.”
I whole hearted disagree. Boise St has been cherry picking Texas for years. Ashton Jeanty is just one of the premiere players from Texas they seem to get every year.
travis wouldn’t you agree oSu would have walked all over Les Miles’ LSU team in the BCS championship game, had they played? That Alabama, who lost at home to the Tigers, got a “do-over” was a travisty.
Dude, youre lost. Jeanty picked Boise St over Kansas, Tulane and Texas State. The recruiting rankings are what they are…and they show that youre lost. You think a recruit is picking Boise St in the Mountain West over the big boys? Somebody please help this man.
The current Boise class is like they all are. Just go look at where the best players from Texas are going. You have to get really far down the list. In this current recruiting cycle (2026), the HIGHEST rated player from the state of Texas that they have committed is the #219th best player IN THE STATE. Boise is not a factor down there
Boise St currently has 3 players that they will likely sign in this cycle from Texas. They are ranked 143, 182 and 220 IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. They are a non factor, like I said
I know we deserved the chance to play Les in the championship game. I do think we would have won the game, except Saban, ESPN and Kirk talked all week about not meeting the “Eye” test. Everything wrong about that
