Stillwater, Norman Mayors Co-Author Legislation to Bring Back Bedlam Football

AR is trying to drive the point home that we shouldn’t be content with almost never beating a rival and never winning our conference. I would say we should care. Especially now since the conference is weaker (No BB schools) and there is more parity (which many here claim, including HeyChamp).

Gundy had great opportunities to beat his biggest rival in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018. That would’ve placed Gundy with a 9-10 record against his rival (47%). That’s considered a far cry from 17%. If that were the case, the conversation of Gundy never being able to beat his rival wouldn’t exist. Considering OU is an iconic program. We should be expecting more if we consider OSU to now be a top 25 program.

That’s the future AR, myself, and many others are wanting to look forward to. Winning the conference more than once every 20 years, and not losing to our rival 83% of the time. I, for one, could really care less if we ever play OU again. I also don’t think we should be scared to schedule the game. I’d much rather play OU right now than Oregon to be quite honest.

Ivd had this argument quite a few times. OSU needs that game. You arent expected to win it. Arent favored to win it. Losing it doesnt hurt you. Youre playing with house money. If you win (which does happen), you get a boost instantly in rankings. You get a boost that year come resume time during playoff/bowl pecking order. You get a boost in the offseason when it comes to in-state recruiting. You also use it as an annual selling point to in-state recruits when that game is on the schedule. You lose little and potentially gain a ton.

I agree. Arizona State lost two games and won the conference. Still made the CFP. You can still suffer a loss to an iconic program and it CAN be looked at more respectably than a team that goes 11-1 with almost no wins against ranked opponents.
