You may need to consider making all the numbers today’s money. Barry Sanders quit in 1998. That is 22 years ago. His earning look relatively small compared to today’s big star earnings. But its not apples to apples unless you adjust for inflation. In the case of Barry’s last year to 2020, the cumulative rate of inflation is 57.3%.
I think to make the figures more accurate you have to turn the figures into the value of the dollar during the years the players earned their money. The dollar was worth more when Thurman Thomas played compared to Marcus Smart. Same goes for Barry Sanders. The dollar has eroded so much that this has to be taken into account if you are going to compare apples to apples. Mike Holder is good with economics, ask him to do this project and then please resubmit the article with the updated figures. I mean, what else is there for Mike Holder to do these days? Hopefully he is busy making phone calls raising funds to build the wrestling center.
Andrew Heaney must be too young to make the list.
He is sitting at like 8.2 MM which would be 12 MM lower than the last guy on the list. May be the reason he was left off.
