Vibes aren’t great.

What’s the axiom - a teams greatest improvement is between game 1 and 2. What does that portend for oSu this season?
-
If oSu loses to Tulsa and Baylor, does Gundy have enough modesty to announce his retirement so a new coach can be found or does he hold out (even though he has wealth most oSu alumni could never imagine) for full firing benefits [IMHO that means NO statutes] which hurts the school he claims to love - in other words, is he a man or not?
-
If he would Cowboy Up and step aside, which coordinator leads the team the rest of the year? IMHO, if Meacham doesn’t have the fortitude, friend or not, to tell Gundy to stay off the mic while he (Meacham) runs plays, then I believe it goes to Grantham.

Thanks for the session, it’s good to know I’m not the only one feeling this way.
GoPokes!!!
I dont necessarily disagree with the sentiment here, but “Cowboy up” and stepping aside are quite opposite. I hate to sound like I agree with one of the absolute fools on this site, but taking the keys from Gundy and giving them to Meacham or Grantham is a terrible idea. Those two are part of the problem, not the solution. This program needs a reboot. Not a retread
Yeah, I probably should have used a synonym like “manned up" but I used it in the context of doing the right thing (especially if he loses the next 2 in an ugly manner) and thought I could get by with a little poetic license - doing what was right and necessary by stepping aside.
Also, if HCMG stepped down, historically, has a new coach taken over at mid-season? I honestly dont recall one. Seems reasonable that a coordinator would step in… that said, have we seen Meacham’s offense? It sure looks a lot like Dunn.
Finally, I know we’re living near the end of Satan’s world and the prophesy is that “the love of the many shall wax cold” at Matthew 24:12, American Standard Bible (along with respect, kindness, tolerance and other fruitage of the spirit) but on a public forum, especially with fellow Cowboys that want to see success, it may be best to temper some thoughts. Now, I’m not sure if you were referencing my posts (I just started posting and have 3 or 4 posts) as “one of the absolute fools” but just saying you may consider this course.
P.S. Gundy could go on a winning streak and then my thoughts are moot - although I am beginning to think even then, or especially then, he should stop while ahead. ???
GoPokes!!!
I will wait to listen/watch until after all the doomsday naysayers are finished whining. Move on and let’s see what happens the next game. ![]()
Something needs to happen or change of direction and pretty quick before we end up declining even further and end up missing the super league when it happens. A new era of college football requires change and getting people that have experience with this new era, we can still keep some cowboy culture in the process. I would really like to bring in Todd Monken. SEC experience, you know this guy has connections and knows what it takes for a program with his time under Georgia and with this new era of college football is going to take. He has NFL experience on top of that now and he could and he probably with the players. 2 champions too. Yes he’s older too but he could get us on the right track and bring experience from a program like Georgia show us what we need to do. We could offer more than the Ravens and probably incentivize him. Zac Robinson is okay but for the pre nil era, i don’t think he’d have a clue with the new college era. Oklahoma state is no dead-end type of college football job like people use to make it out to be. This program has money and was supposed to have had 22 million put into nil for this coming season instead we got a 7 million roster according to sources, something is really off and wrong if you look at USF a school with less money beat Florida that has a lot of money. Oklahoma State football generated 130+ million dollars and football budget 30 million dollars from some sources. 325 million in private donations and a lot of money dumped into future athletic facilities such as the baseball stadium and soon softball stadium. I’m there sure there’s things I don’t know with the money and where it needs to go, but there’s donors too if they can get something shown to them to spend that money. Gundy deserves a statue built and did great for the program, some type of change is needed quick because these next few years depends on it.
I feel ya brother, that God complex personality in my opinion has really got us here and it does look like he is still micromanaging things and not letting the coordinators do what they need to do. Same issues in the games as the previous few years it is either schemes, out coached, or the offensive line. We were supposed to dump 22 million into nil for this season. When it comes to coaching and talent development there is obviously a issue for example the offensive line and that should fall onto coaches somebody needs to be held accountable we have went through a few people over the last season and it hasn’t worked so Gundy needs to take the consequences for that and own up to that. I know for a fact that this program has money and whoever is behind These woes needs to be held accountable and fixed quickly
No, no, no. I wasnt taking a shot at you. The Coordinators would man the ship until it went down at the end of the year. Im just saying neither coordinator is worthy of being given the keys going fwd.
I have never fallen into the fire Gundy camp. I am not necessarily there just yet either but how do you finally have some success in a drive running Trent Howland and then never do it again? That’s coaching, not players. Does Oregon have better players, in general, yes, yes they do. But play calling isn’t as complicated as coaches seem to make it. If they can’t stop your run game, don’t stop pounding the rock.
Those two and their respective coaches they brought along are the reboot.
Anyone that thought we had even a slim chance to keep the Oregon game close, had wishful thinking. That game was going to be a blowout, and we all knew it. All new coaching staff and what, 60-some new players. I’m still willing to give the team a few games to mesh and play before I already call this season a failure.
Now, we start big 12 play and we’re still getting embarrassed, it’s time to move on.
