The Top 10 Games of the Mike Gundy Era of Oklahoma State Football

The best games from OSU’s greatest era to date.

Bedlam 2011 is #1 and it’s no contest. Got his first Bedlam win and clinched the Big 12 Championship. Not only did OSU win, they absolutely destroyed them. It was a much needed catharsis.

Not having 2011 Bedlam in the top 5 is asinine.

I knew this post was coming and I logged in just to say it’s 08 Missouri and it’s not even close. The only game that tops this is a national championship win. I was in ninth grade in our baseball coach history class in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. I remember coming to school the next day and him saying something I thought before. “This win is the turning point in Oklahoma State football.” And as hard as it was, it was. And as easily as it couldn’t have, it wasn’t. That game DEFINED a new era of Oklahoma Stare football. That game raised the exactions of all cowboys fans everywhere. Zac, Dez, Kendall, and Mike Gundy on the sidelines with the camera point to him drawing up the next sequence of plays, or whatever he was doing. We lost that Gundy or that Gundy changed, Im not sure, it’s too late now. Nevertheless, that game defined 15 years of high expectations. Without that game and that team, this blog post doesn’t exist and I’m not up at 12:17am in Rotterdam, Netherlands talking about it.

Agreed, the 2011 Bedlam win wasn’t just shrugging off big brother it was pushing him in front of on oncoming train and taking the trophy on our field (not having to wait for a title game). We introduced the diamond formation and ran it down their throats when they were expecting pass. Without that win we share the title and OU would have probably advanced to the preferred bowl. Beating Stanford was a great win, but it wasn’t Alabama and Nick Saban.

I’ve only watched the first three of these and I’ve got goosebumps. Miss these days. Man they were fun. Freaking stoked at what we did and can do again. It will happen.

I would say the Tulsa game last week! New era of osu football!!
