‘We have to build it with the right type of people. Character is something that’s super important to me.’
HCEM had one back at NT, hopefully tape of Holgerson and Monken are available for perusal because with a fullback, even Staley blowing up those LBs in the hole and pass protecting, it took the Diamond, Pistol, and running schemes in general to a forceful level. That is the offense I miss…
That and recruiting guys from high-schools competiting for championships

“think that’s gonna be important for us to go out and find guys that are ready to step in and play Day 1 for us some key roles. It’s gonna be a nice mix here. Obviously my job the next week or so is to really evaluate the current roster and see what we have, and then after that I can formulate a plan to see what we need to go out and attack in the transfer portal.””
Our previous HC would’ve told you “it takes about 15 games” and then said “Those guys don’t want to play here. We get what we can get.”.
Very excited having Eric Morris coming to OSU. He appears to be a man of character, transparency and a very likable person. He will put his effort into make sure all cylinders are firing within the program, meaning recruiting, planning, toughness, etc. Give him time but he will get the program heading the right direction.
With our fans, he’ll have about 3 years to turn things around. After that, they’ll be wanting him gone if he doesn’t win the conference.
I’m excited to see what he does and what the next few years entails.
There’s some truth to this. We probably have about 4 years to make ourselves relevant before the next wave of realignment occurs. The fact that the ACC isn’t getting their champion into the CFP does not bode well for that conference’s long-term survival. Add in the in-fighting the ACC now has going with its biggest partner-brand in ND, and that collapse may be sooner rather than later. When it collapses, if OSU is still a middling team, then we’ll become Oregon State, and way more than just football will suffer.
I doubt it. We have a lot of fans that are excited to go 6-6 and only win 3 conference games. Look at Gundy as a reference. Most were totally fine with that. Most just don’t want to go 0-18 in the conference.
This is a safe bet. Time is not on our side. I’m not sure EM has 3 years to show something significant. For me he needs to beat Oregon out of the gate next year. If he does that I’m all in.
Say whaaaaat? Sarcasm?
I’m going to apply the Gundy standard to him since that seems to be the standard for everyone around him. He just needs to win four games in his first season
.
Before so many hit the portal, it seemed there was a good enough core that, along withsome DUDES from the Portal, oSu could surprise teams next year and by the 8th game, perhaps steal a win or two extra for a nice turnaround season.
Now I have no idea. The one advantage now, with pay, there is no reason not to memorize the playbook and put in more film time - they’re being paid to play this game as if it were a real job. Make it so!

Quite the contrary. It’s an expectation. I’m not in the mood for cutting anyone any slack. You want to coach at OSU you need to perform.
Didn’t seem to bother you when Gundy went winless in the conference.
