‘I think that’s just my mentality going into the season is going out there and dominating these guys.’
I LOVE THIS GUY!!! Ever since his first match in orange I’ve known Troy was gonna be somebody for us. His intensity and all out effort are something to behold. Can’t wait to see how he’s honed his skills alongside RBY this summer freestyle season. I love that all our future 125 guys get to work against/alongside him too. Think about how much better Ronnie, Rocklin and Ignacio will get once they’re working in a room with Spratley going after them! Iron sharpens iron, we’re definitely gonna be a super tough room in the lower weights for years to come. Also, can you think of a better guy to start most Cowboy duels than Spratley? I cannot.
It’s the David Taylor effect. In full force. Kudos to Chad once again, for a grand slam hire to replace John.
I’ll give Chad his props but DT kinda fell in his lap thanks to PAYCOM. Guy has gifted us with David and he’s not even an alum
That’s somewhat true, but it was Chad who had to make the call. He could’ve gone the safe route and hired Coleman Scott, who left his HC position at North Carolina to be an Associate HC under John Smith. He was an OSU alum and the transition would’ve been seamless.
However, Chad took a chance on DT, who had no formal coaching experience but was a product of the Penn State machine currently dominating the sport.
Also, just because someone is offering a lot of money to hire someone doesn’t always make it the right decision.
It’s going to be very interesting who they start at the beginning of the season at 133. (Where is Rin and what happens to Rin) if Figeroa starts and 141 is clearly up in the air with Vega Hughes and Jamison. I would really like see Hughes here and Vega redshirt. It’s going to be overly crowded next year when the three mentioned in Bobby3 take and Forrest and the twins arrive. Also, I would really like to see Robi at 157!
I think DT has been doing a lot of coaching at his schools and with the PS room Don’t think the question was ever brought up about his ability to get guys upping their game. Can’t remember the PAYCOM guys name but he wanted to increase our standings
I don’t remember the story on him reaching out to us
Anyone heard the story Hughes may have an injury ?
Don’t know about Hughes having an injury but that is a definite possibility. Still scathing my head about submitting Hughes and Fig at 133…I thought for sure it would be Fig or Rin and Hughes at 141 with Vega and again really want to see Robi at 157 as they submitted him and Travis as potential wrestlers at that weight. All the other weights are pretty much set.
