It’s been a busy day in the OSU running back room.
6’2" 225, now the biggest back in the room - for perspective he is Ollie’s size without the Glass impact, or for another comparison 4" taller and 11 pounds lighter than Kye. Couldn’t find Crosslin’s numbers but he was a dude at fullback.
The point here, for team tougness, especially in big games, there is nothing like setting up in the diamond with an agile FB getting to the second level and destroying a LB - forcing their LBs to keep their head on a swivel (or possibly be crushed) as they try to read and react, thus slowing their reaction time. And every once in a while the FB runs or catches a wide open pass out of the backfield. The Cowboyback didn’t work as well because they were too tall and lost blocking leverage (which is why so many of them whiffed on pass protection).
Points of reference:
Barry Sanders 5’8" 205
Julius Crosslin ? ? (sure recall him destroying LBs in the end zone)
Bryant Ward ? ?
Jeremy Smith 5’10" 208
Kye Staley. 5’10" 236
David Paulson. ? ?
Desmond Roland 6’2 210
Chris Carson 5’11" 218
Chuba Hubbard 6’1" 210
Ollie Gordon 6’2" 225
