Aggieville is great, Mass Ave in Lawerence, not in the big 12 but Dickson street in Fayetteville is a ton of fun. You can’t enjoy a night out in Stillwater without smelling like an ashtray.

I guess I’m the weird one who liked the strip…

I like the Strip - I just think it’s gotten rundown and not as good as other big 12 schools. The smoking in the bars is probably is why I have this mindset too.

The Garage is better than Joe’s to be honest.

Hunziker gets on my nerves a lot but I would rather listen to him than the ESPN ZZ team that we seem to get stuck with every time. I sync up the radio and TV broadcast so I don’t have to listen to what they’re saying.

El Vaquero is nasty. Worst bout of food poisoning of my life was post Vaquero. Puked my guts up in the first half of the LaTach game in 2001. Resting my head on a Lewis Field toilet… double :face_vomiting:.

I had to walk home a mile and a half because nobody wanted to leave the game. Even my girlfriend, now wife, didn’t want to leave her Theta friends and help me out. Bad day all around, and I still can’t drive past the Vaquero building without my stomach gurgling.

I used to DJ on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday when I could. Fun memories and fun crowds to take requests from.

There has to be a ton of stories from you Joes DJ days.

Good to know you married the right girl though at least. Her priorities are clearly in order.

It was standard bar stuff for the most part. Mixing songs you really only have about two minutes every four minutes to survey the field and catch things as they happen. Several bar fight escorts by the bouncers, the occasional shot, dance-offs with a crowd circle, and telling people their requests are not adequate for peak dance hours are what I remember most.

When it was full it was incredibly fun though. My 7:30am calc class Friday morning after getting home at 3am was not.

Aggieville, while a lot of fun, is not unique in anyway. Feels way too corporate and any bar you find there you can find in Overland Park.

I love the “hole in wall” feel of most of the strip bars. True college town feel.

Is Hunziker the one that says “goodnight Vienna”? Because yeah, that’s dumb. It sounds so…underwhelming.

He does say that. I like it and I don’t know why. In the high pitched yell of Hunziker it sounds better than seeing it on a screen.

When I read it, I hear him say it. Kinda like this…

You are underselling! Maybe because I loved working at a bar. Good times before downtown OKC was really hopping.

The Strip has the perfect layout. The problem is that there isn’t really any diversity or draw to a select few bars. I’m a Penny homer so that’s my spot. Outlaws is great to dance at. I hear The Union is popular but when I went, it just seemed like another Murphy’s imo. I also don’t feel like there is any promotional stuff anymore. Drowns, dollar beers, trivia, etc. that makes you want to go out to other bars instead of staying at your regular place…

From my understanding after the Liquor Laws in Oklahoma’ modernized it has prevented bars from offering all you can drink nights and such.

Orange Power is an awful chant.
