Who Would Be on OSU's Mount Rushmore of Wide Receivers?

It gets tricky because OSU has had some many great pass catchers.

Three are no-brainers: Blackmon, Washington and Rashaun Woods. Hart Lee was the 4th best, but his legacy of probation eliminates him from being put on the Mt. So ill say Dez Bryant is the 4th face

The question is “who should be the 4th face on Mt Rushmore?”

Honorable mention to TD Bryant, whose snag in front of Roy Williams in '01 made Rashaun’s more famous catch possible.

As an OU fan, the most memorable/forgettable Rashuan Woods memory was his performance the next year in Bedlam. My sister was a Soph at OSU and I was in the stands. I changed my voicemail that day. I had “Boomer Sooner” playing in the background as I said “Im sorry I missed your call, but im busy watching OU kick the s**t out of OSU”. I snuck out around the midway point of the 3rd qtr when it was 35-6 Cowboys. Woods went for 200+.

While I don’t think Dez did anything wrong, he got suspended and that really shortened his career. I’d probably have to go Dykes for longevity.

I wont argue either Dez or Hart Lee as the 4th guy. But Dez didnt get the university in trouble, while Hart Lee did. Im just talking semantics about hypothetically putting that face on a Mt Rushmore

Not only did Hart Lee get us in huge trouble, you never see him publicly praise his time at OSU and represent the way Dez did throughout his career. My 4: Blackmon, Rashaun, President, and Dez.

Your story about Bedlam 2002 warms my heart. I’m only sorry it wasn’t a worse beating like the one y’all gave us in Norman the very next year.

Blackmon, Woods, and Washington are pretty much a lock. As for the 4th, I could be talked into either Bryant and Dykes.
2002 Bedlam will always hold a special place in my heart as it was the final home game I attended as an OSU student. We were just going out of our minds during this game. It was surreal because I thought OU would be out for blood after that massive upset in 01. Instead, OSU could do no wrong and OU could do no right.
By the way, it’s 1:10 PM on Jan. 22, 2025 and Rashuan Woods is still open

This is a slow time here on the forum, so ill tell my history of Bedlam games.

1990: My 1st Bedlam. OU won 31-17 in Stilly. I was 11 years old.
1995: OSU won 12-0 in Norman. Lost my virginity that day. True story.
1997: OSU won 30-7. I was on a recruiting trip to OU that day.
2000: OU won 12-7 in Stilly. Tatum Bell burst onto the scene that day.
2002: Told that one earlier. OSU dominated
2009: OU won 27-0 in Norman. It was my oldest son’s 1st Bedlam
2019: OU won 34-16 in Stilly. My son was on an official trip to OSU.
2022: OU won 28-13 in Norman. It was my middle kiddos 1st Bedlam. Saw two OU students fight over a chick in the restroom.

Agree 100%. I thought there was no way OU was losing that day. But as an OU fan, that was the game that solidified OSU as a rival of ours. I hated Les Miles. Up until that point, it seemed like OSU won becuase OU was really, really bad (Blake era) or that they just happened to overlook the Cowboys. That day, for me, marked the beginning of the rivalry that it is today.

You have much better recall than I do. From ‘88 on, I’ve been to every Bedlam played in Stilly to the best of my memory except for 2002 and 2011. I was 39 before I witnessed my first OSU Bedlam win in football live in the stadium. 2021. Was in the stadium for 2023 also. Have never been to Norman for Bedlam. My mom went with a friend in ‘95. Despite the win, she swore she’d never return. I’m sure some OU fans have bad experiences in Stilly. The “bad fans” goes both ways.

The ones that gave me joy: ‘21 gave me more joy than ‘23 because at the time, I was hoping OU would go to the SEC early and pay the buyout. Sending them out with an L……priceless. More so than ‘23 because your ‘21 squad had a slightly better QB1, MUCH BETTER HC, and MUCH BETTER defense than you brought to town in ‘23.

The ones that hurt the most that I’ve witnessed live

: 2013-losing as a 10-point favorite at home. Cost us a Big 12 title. Losing to a 3rd string QB turned TE….infuriating.
2017-put up 52 points but lost to Baker. Seeing the fu-man chu up close and reading the homemade “Back to Back Bedlam Champs” shirt he showed off on the field after just cemented my sports hatred for the guy. It also was the day I became an anti-Gundyist. Cost us another Big 12 title.
2015-freezing our asses off to watch a team get pummeled with no QB1, only to see Gundy put him in for 1 play, which was a pick-6……58-23 final. Mixon and Perine went nuts that game.
2010-Bobby Reid throws a perfect game winner that D’Juan drops.

In 2011, my son had just turned 1, so our tickets were being used.
In 2002, I was working and couldn’t take off.

Very, very cool stories! I had to google up the scores of the games id gone to. Ive never had a bad experience at Bedlam/OSU. There have been a few bad OU-TX experiences, which I was younger and more full of vinegar and dumbassery so I was partly to blame. The absolute, hands down worst experience ive ever had was in New Orleans with LSU fans. Those people are idiots. I grew up going to OU football and OSU baseball, so Stillwater was never bad to me. My wife and her family are actually pretty big donors to OSU, so ive gone a few more times recently. Was in the Boone for the Tech home finale and in Boulder for that one. I cant stand Gundy, but OSU has never been on my list the way Texas is.

The one bad Bedlam experience I had as far as the fans are concerned: 2006, I think. 3 OU college kids stumbled through our tailgate drunk, talking post-game smack. One called my brother a pu$$y for no reason. I was ready to fight. My uncle is 6’2” and 240 easy. Told them they needed to leave before it got bad. No punches thrown.

All the rest have been civil and positive. Thanks for the stories. You’re one of the good ones.

Hey, I was in Kansas City for the Big 12 Champ between OU-KState back in 2003. OU got drilled 35-7 by KState, but still got a berth in the BCS title game the next day. My best friend (future best man in my wedding) got into a fight at a urinal with a fellow OU fan. Two OU guys, throwing haymakers. Saw something similar in the 2000 Orange Bowl when OU beat FSU. Only it was two FSU fans beating the hell out of each other. Good times

I always wonder why two fans of the same team fight each other?!

This is tough, but you have to find a way to have Hart Lee on there. If he played in todays games, with today’s rules and offenses, he might be #1.

Blackmon
Dykes
Washington
Woods

But ■■■■ I loved watching the others, especially Tylan going up and out muscling the dbacks!

I’m fine with finding a place for Dez, but he did get suspended so we never got to see his full potential in Stillwater. He and Hart Lee both cost us seasons. Dez was shady, but suspended none the less, cost us what should have been an amazing season. Hart Lee was against the rules back then but nowadays is fine.

Mizzou fans are trash too. Cotton Bowl 2013…two drunk Mizzou guys embarrassing their wives. They sat next to me and my then 3 year old. Cussed the whole time, made crude gestures…whole 9 yards. Had to cover my poor boy’s ears half the game.

Blackmon, Woods, Washington, and Dykes would be my picks. Blackmon, Rashaun Woods, and Washington are guaranteed picks. I would entertain arguments for the 4th spot. Besides, Dykes, you could argue that Dez or Tylan Wallace deserve that 4th spot. But, heck, I’d even consider D’Juan Woods, Marcell Ateman, Brennan Presley, and even Dillon Stoner for that spot. If you’re going just off numbers, Wallace gets the 4th spot; if you’re going for post-college career, it’s Dez; nostalgia gets you Dykes; and Stoner gets it for heart.

How about an ‘off the wall’ pick? RW McQuarters was technically a CB (and a 1st rounder at that), but he was probably the best WR on the '97 team which really started the school in the direction of trying to be football relevant.
