Gundy shouldn’t be going on vacation after last season’s performance and all the uncertainty about this season. In a real business, the owner/CEO would be completely focused on turning things around.
You’re the goddang head COACH! It’s your JOB to figure out who are going to be the starters. Gundy is getting zero slack from me this year.
I would rather him not choose based on his QB decisions. I think that needs to be left to the people he’s hired. I’ve seen it too many times where Gundy interjects himself into a situation when it’s not needed. Only to make it worse.
About the only time I think he should’ve interjected himself is when our offense was putrid and couldn’t move the ball. Only simply because he’s a former OC. Even then, that’s questionable as well. Dunn was so ineffective during the first halves of football games and couldn’t adjust until the season was halfway over.
We don’t have the luxury of doing that all the time if we’re serious about trying to win the conference. He wouldn’t have to interject himself into the situation if he would’ve just hired experienced D1 coordinators in the first place. It’s not so much of a roster issue in my opinion as it is a coaching issue.
He recently just admitted he interjected himself into adjusting Nardo’s defense. It didn’t matter because we ended up having the worst P4 defense in the country anyway 
. He also waited until two blowouts before deciding Bowman wasn’t the answer when they couldn’t get Ollie any running lanes.
The evidence is in the history of his tenure at OSU football. The times he’s ever won or been closest to winning the conference is when he had coordinators that knew what they were doing (Monken and Knowles). They were the ones that set their rosters, and they were the ones that created their game plans.
Lately, Gundy has turned his program into a one man show (himself), and the result ends up being like it was last season. No more coaching projects, no more roster choosing, and no more interjection when it’s not needed by the HC of the OSU football program. It took going last place in the conference for him to realize his enemy is actually himself.

I’d argue the opposite. Send him away until non-conference play is finished. He can come back week 4 or so. If his hires are as good as he thinks they are, then they need to set the roster and game-planning. Take Gundy himself out of the equation. Otherwise, it’ll end up just as screwed up as last season.
LOL in the real world the CEO is attending charity events, meeting with other CEO’s, playing golf with other CEO’s, attending board meetings, planning the construction on next wing of their mansion, making quarterly update speeches to their employees, et al. and pretty much spending zero time in the actual business of the company.
As usual, bruce4 knows less about CEOs than he does about football which is amazing. You’re 100% right, he should be completely focused on turning things around.

LOL I’ve lived a minute in the fortune 500 world I know what CEO’s are up to. Try talking about something that you have actual knowledge of.

And yet, this season hasn’t started, so there’s no way for you to know this season will be the same. Maybe you should volunteer and lend all of your coaching experience to the program. If you can step away from the keyboard and actually coach, that is.
Since I seriously doubt that there’s an owner or CEO amongst all y’all, I wonder how you know what they should or shouldn’t do. Informed replies only, please.
If Gundy took himself out of the equation. Then I get to see the merit of the coaches he hired. Are they a 6-6 coaching staff? Or a 10-2 coaching staff? Again, history gives us quite a good indicator of how good the seasons and assistants under Gundy have been when he lets them be. Don’t you find it ironic that the best two coordinators he ever had gave him his only conference title, and close to his second?
Maybe we should start paying a coach that acts like he wants to win the conference, and doesn’t talk trash to the fan base when he’s 0-6 in conference play .

I own and run a business that I founded 25 years ago in my back bedroom. I now have about 65 employees and we’re growing revenue at 5-year CAGR of around 30% in a very competitive industry.
I do see the point of keeping Gundy out of the decision process, but that’s because he has a history of making bad choices, not because it isn’t part of his role as head coach.

Congrats, that’s a great accomplishment. I’m serious here. But what if you opened up an online forum where people said you needed to step down from decision making? I’m not talking about people who know what you do, but people like @bill18 who sits behind an anonymous thread and rails about your abilities. My point in all of this is that unless you’ve walked the walk, dispense with the talk. You, sir, I respect.
I don’t get paid millions to coach. However, if I did. I certainly would understand my limitations and actually find me people that now what they’re doing. I would place my ego on the shelf and allow an experienced coordinator do their job. We had great success when Gundy chose to do that. When you hire fakes and don’t let go of your own ego. That’s how you end up 0-9 in the conference.
It’s called being humble and showing humility. Not doubling down and trashing your fan base when you’re 0-6 in the conference. I find it amazing how I’ve found that out after 40 years on this planet. Yet, a guy that’s top 15 paid in college football that’s nearly 60 years of age hasn’t figured that out yet 
.
I don’t recall him trashing the fanbase recently, certainly not since the end of last season. Sounds like PTSD on your part, sweetheart.
What he did do is what momma’s-basement-jockeys like you wanted: scrap the coaching staff, spend money on players, strip everything down and start over. You got what you wanted. I think it will be a net positive but, if it isn’t, I expect you and the rest of the burn-it-down crowd to stand up, take responsibility and “be humble and show humility,” as you put it.

I’ll repeat the same deal I’ve made on other posts: don’t post for the first five weeks of the season. If you won’t, I won’t. At that point, we’ll have a better feel for what we have. Deal?

No, you just choose to ignore it when he does. Because you guys are the type of fans that can’t see through the smoke and mirrors of what mediocre Mike actually says.
He could’ve went into the portal and got a bunch of players after losing so many after the 2021 season, and he didn’t. He should’ve fired Kasey Dunn when he was averaging 15 PPG in the last six games of the 2022 season, and he didn’t. He could’ve went and got an experienced and decent G5 DC for the defense before the 2023 season, and he didn’t. He could’ve started OG his Freshman year (who was the best RB in the country the next season), and instead keeps running DR out there who can’t even average 3 yards per pop, and he didn’t. He could’ve held onto his DL coach that actually had players drafted. Instead of hiring a DL coach that gave us our worst DL ever, and he didn’t.
the ONLY reason people like Dunn, Nardo, and Dickey are not still on this coaching staff is because of the BoR. I GUARANTEE YOU had they not been involved at least one of those three payroll bandits would still be on the staff. I would bet everything in my investment portfolio that would be the case. That’s the issue here. These problems could’ve been solved earlier when people were saying it was an issue.
You guys keeps saying “wait till next year!!! Wait till next yea!!!”. Wait for what? Our next Cheez It or Liberty bowl appearance? When are you people going to ever learn?
