On slow starts, the future and more.
After the game, Garrett Rangel went to the city limit sign and started throwing footballs out into the desert.
…he hit it only once or twice.
If his accuracy doesn’t improve dramatically, then Carl Albert might like to take him from the transfer portal.
Mr. Dunn, thanks for the memories… Mr. Mason, thanks for the memories… Not that either will be supplanted as they should be in today’s college football, but I am working on my college football ptsd treatments and gonna try to block any future memories in advance!!
WE ARE A SOFTBALL SCHOOL!!! GO POKETTES!!!
Happy New Year to all.
“After Tuesday’s game, Gundy did not say whether changes would come to his staff after the Cowboys finished 7-6, their worst record since 2018.”
Glad you took the high road here Marshall and didn’t make some snarky piece out of it. Gundy was immature the way he handled your legitimate question. Others in the press recognize this as well as Chad Weiberg I’m sure. Gundy needs to stop threatening to pull credentials for reasonable questions even when they are painful to answer at the time. He’s the one who constantly espouses how accountability is important in the “cowboy culture” and it has to start with him.
I wonder how gumby would act if a journalist were to ask why haven’t you fielded an offensive line that has had a pulse in 12 years? That’s the number 1 question that’s needed to be asked for years.
Defense seemed to have showed up to play but the time differential in the first half was a killer.
Offense was so bad. At the very least, the OL coach needs to go - he’s had his chances, his OL is getting progressively worse. Bad snaps throughout the season, even in a bowl game? How can those guys not be ready to play, not understand how to block at this point? Given the emphasis by Gundy on the run game, the poor run blocking is pathetic. Yes, injuries - but guys should be able to adapt, learn, and block. Can’t do RPO if you can’t run. So it’s just pass, and even that the QB has maybe 2 seconds to decide and throw or get sacked. Sanders made it look better because he could improvise and make something out of a busted play, but with an inexperienced QB the poor play really shows…
Offer every QB in the portal to come to OSU and promise them they are number 1 in the fall and will start the first game. First to accept gets in. We have no QB for next year who is ready for prime time.
I thought the defense played as well as they could with the pathetic time of possession disparity. I want Mason to return.
Jason Taylor - We all would love for you to come back but dude, go get paid. You’ve earned it.
After last night’s performance by Rawls, Daniels, and Rucker, I think we are in good shape at safety next year. Rawls had some great plays. The strip sack, the pass rejections might have been the coolest one, and some nice tackles. Ty Williams had a TD saving tackle.
Are you wanting Jason to get paid in the NFL or transfer to USC, Ohio St., Miami, A&M, Bama etc. etc. etc.?
52 yards on 26 carries against a 6-6 team. Can’t wait for the hard hitting excuses from those that think Gundy is the only person willing to coach OSU. All of these brand new coaches are embarrassing Gundy in every game. You would think that after 18 years he could be able to put together more than 52 yards on 26 carries against a brand new coach in his first game at Wisconsin. Gundy is a joke.
Where are the Gundy apologists? You all had a fun time claiming Gundy was God after having a top ten transfer portal class…but he followed that up with a 60th ranked recruiting class. The OC isnt getting the job done. Last night was a prime example. We scored on one big play, but outside of that it was TO’s or punts. Rangel was inaccurate on nearly every long ball, wasn’t even close to hitting the wide outs, so what does our OC do? He has Rangel throw it deep which effectively ends the game. Or how about my favorite play, on 3rd and 11, we have a wide out run a hitch route which if caught would have only gained 7-8 yards, ball was nearly picked and returned for a touchdown. Nothing they have done this year has made any sense. You can blame injuries all you want, but running routes short of the line to gain, or running an offense that wouldn’t work against Arkansas Pine Bluff, against Big 12 and Big 10 defenses are the things that drive fans and players crazy.
The second half of this season has been the most difficult and embarrassing in my 40+ years as a Cowboy supporter. Gundy upset about being asked about coaching changes … Really? The change needs to start with him! Gundy needs to be a “man” and accept responsibility for a team that lacks a winning culture and is more often than not unprepared despite having a lot of talented players and quit or otherwise be FIRED! In addition to the losses and not being competitive in games, it is indicative that so many players are entering the Portal and opting out rather than playing to support a winning culture.
Instead, it is clear that Gundy, and the folks that can bring about change, are more impressed with the past rather than the future of the program. Successful coaches are able to prepare their teams to handle challenges or adversity. Not sure what is more frustrating, having a coach that has lost interest and drive to win games or a fan base that will support the coach based on a past “winning” record. Even Wisconsin recognized that a “winning” record cannot support a coach that cannot provide a winning culture.
Time for Gundy to be a “man” and cut himself out. However, being a big fish in a small pond that has no design of getting bigger, Gundy is aware that there likely is not a college program anywhere that will pay him even half his current salary. T Boone is likely rolling over in his grave, and there is not anyone in the Athletic department that has the balls to step up and do what is necessary.
But, but, but 17 bowls in a row. Lol
To the guy who asked about staff changes during the post game show. Kudos to you for asking a legit question. I don’t care what Pat Jones or Mike Gundy feels about it. It is plain as day and no mystery that there needs to be some changes on the staff to fix the offense and blocking. I’d like to see a change to the QB, OL, and OC coaching positions. I couldn’t believe we are still using the vertical passing attack to open up the run game.
Yep, going to 17 bowls, Gundy likely believes he could have knocked off the Consumers IGA and nobody would care. Given his performance as a coach and what he is paid, Gundy clearly does not have a problem with stealing.
Weiberg, the Prez and first Cowboy, talk about the free national pub we get from our successful sports teams appearing on the big stage. Then we have our football coach act like an unprofessional, condescending, name caller in a public setting. Even more embarrassing nationally than our substandard performance on the field.
It goes back to what I was saying a week or so ago and got called an idiot for it. The entire offense was predicated around Spencer Sanders. It’s more than just a personnel problem as far the offense goes. We have coaches that don’t know how to implement new offensive philosophies or strategies based on what they have. We don’t have to have a superstar QB to get by as long as we have a solid offensive line and running game. A 30 point swing in points per game is a substantial number. 26 rushes for 52 yards in this game. Who’s taking the fall for this one?
They (Michael and Robert) won’t show up. They’ll wait a few days before coming on here and continue talking about how Gundy is like Jesus and Dunn is like the apostle Peter. They know it’s a problem, but will never admit it. Some people think it’s better to just double down instead of saying “You’re right, looks like I may have been wrong.”
Great “fans” in here tonight. Whoo!
To the guy who asked the question about staff changes… Do better. When has a coaching staff ever commented on coaching changes right after the bowl game ended? Nobody ever.
Now had you asked if Dunn was returning, nobody would have had an issue.
