Lol. Look at the trend. He’s due for several down years. And we can’t fix every problem when we are playing ring around the coaches. Mason will be gone after next year so we will start all over.

If anyone gets the frustration from your comment it’s me. Sometimes it seems like yesterday when the general feeling was a win was nice but it was what it was, and a loss was pretty much same s*** different day. I hoped so much we could reach the point when the highs of a win were really high and the lows were really low. And since the new stadium and practice facility were build and Gundy became HC I don’t think there’s any valid argument that can be made to support the idea this program has not been turned around 180 degrees from what used to be the norm.
However, I agree with a previous comment that we’re still a stepping stone for coaches, unless it’s a unique situation where the successful HC is a former player and alum. That being said, who would we get who would match what we’ve had for the previous 18 years? I’m not naive enough to believe we couldn’t get a coach in here who might take us to the playoff, or win more conference championships, etc., but in the end they’d be taken out by a larger fish. They might last a couple of years longer than “back in the day”, but the result will still be the same and we’d be starting over again with a new search process.

I hate to say it, and sorry for the diversion on your point, but I’m afraid that the portal has enabled OSU to become a major stepping stone for Players as well. Players chase blue blood teams just the same as Coaches.
