10 Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 24-21 Loss to Iowa State

Oh okay. Well……we’ll see how long they can go without playing for a conference title then.

Joey explains to me what u really want.
U talk about Baylor and tcu. Both are 500 after their titles. So u will set thur 1 and 2 win.season in hopes of titles. U know ur dad jug would fire those guys.

There isn’t any guarantee this football program is going to go 6-6 or worse after making it to a conference title game. That is just a stupid assumption by a coach making excuses of why he can’t play for one any longer.

Baylor used to be just barely a step over Kansas in the Big 12. They won a couple of conference titles under Briles.

Then comes in Rhule who just in a matter of three years takes a team from 1-11 to 11-1 and a conference title appearance.

Then comes in Aranda in year 2 and they are what? 6-1 and basically still in the Big 12 title race?

Now you have Iowa State who did play for a conference title, and also won an NY6 bowl. They are still in the hunt for a Big 12 title appearance for a second time. Guess what? They still have the same coach.

So this argument that you should expect to suck a couple of years afterwards just isn’t true. Especially if the program isn’t undergoing a coaching change. If the goal isn’t taking the OSU program to the next step consistently then what the hell is he still doing there?

The only thing I can think of is to keep making millions while he has people like you and Michael convinced that being average every year is better than trying to play for championships.

Baylor and tcu are average dnt bring us down.
U never said if u would he happy with 1 or 2 wins waiting on the title games.
If we do what u want there is a 90 % Chance we will trun into tech.
The 10% will last no more the 4 years when that great coach leaves for a better team

Who has played for a conference most recently?

I wouldn’t be, but to assume our program is going back to the latter Pat Jones days after winning one is dumb. Even after losing Weeden and Blackmon we went 8-5 in 2012 and in 2013 we were projected to win the conference and basically played OU for a conference title that season.

What do you mean by doing what I want to do?

If we are the stable program you say we are (16 bowl games in a row and top 10 in wins) then we should be fine.

I blame gundy for fans like u.
Since the 70’s we have been a 500 team, till gundy
Even the title we won before gundy was a 3way tie.
Gundy has shown by great coaching we can elevate above average.
U never have talked about this next class over a third r 4 stars.
Do u think about gundy all the time, do u dream about him

We are a stable program under gundy.
U really are an idiot. U go on and on about leach.
Tech has gone south after the got rid of him and they were a 500 team before leach. If ur going to use example of teams like Baylor tcu and leach use all the facts.
Just like win u point out a loss. For every loss u point out I can point to 2 wins.

Haven’t we been above average for about 13 years now? So exactly how long should we wait until we can get to that Tier 2 level?

I never said we weren’t. I’m just waiting for that next step. I figured being top 10 in wins over the last decade would have vaulted us forward to that Tier 2 level by now.

What is this tier 2 crap u speak of.
U mean the tier the coaches who followed leach elevated tech to. Or the new ksu coach has them at. For that fact throw west Virginia in with Neal.
All had coaches about the same of gundy.

U mean great bowls? We have played teams who are thought as good programs Alabama Ohio state Stanford Washington Miami

Tier 2- Teams that can consistently challenge for conference titles, sometimes beat their biggest rival, and can consistently get to NY6 bowl games. Teams that can consistently finish anywhere between 10th-20th in the final Top 25.

Examples of Tier 2 teams- Oklahoma State 2013, TCU 2017, Baylor 2019, Iowa State 2020, Texas 2018. Consistent doesn’t mean every single year. Just means meeting a standard in a certain period of time.

There isn’t any reason we can’t accomplish this once every three years. Texas has been down for 12 years. There isn’t any reason Iowa State should be doing better than we are in the conference.

We played Ohio State when they went 6-5. We played Bama shortly after they got off probation. We played Washington when they were 8-6 and it was Peterson’s first year. We played a Miami team that hasn’t been any good for almost 20 years. C’mon dude!!!

If 2013 was a tier 2 team why isn’t '15 and '16 we actually would have been the 2nd team those year not the 3rd team as in '13.
We gave a great try last year and we’re still in this year.
U named 5 teams with ur " tier 2" years not tier 2 teams.
Each team is building for a run. U look at things oddly.
Until u understand the parity of the teams u won’t understand why we lose a " choke " game.

The whole point about playing Alabama and other is to point out not even the best programs play new years eve every year.

U need to talk to ur buddy tomato slice. He will explain why a team like osu has troubles competing every year. He will explain about bb and location of schools.

In 2015, we got lucky in a lot of games and got lucky to get 2nd because Texas beat Baylor. We were blown out our last three games.

In 2016, we found a way to lose to Central Michigan and Baylor (both who finished 6-6). Then we go play Bedlam and get our a55 kicked.

I’ll go ahead and give you the benefit of the doubt and stick those two in there. Since the end of the 2017 season (Where many had us playing for a Big 12 title) we haven’t finished any higher than 4th. That’s being in a league where Texas has rarely done squat in the last 12 years.

That’s the point I’m getting at here. Gundy has decided that as a football program we would be better served sticking to Tier 3 instead of trying to maintain or stabilize as a Tier 2.

The goal is to no longer make the program better, but just stick with the status quo and make it just good enough to get to a bowl game. If we win more then that’s cool, but let’s just make sure we can get to a bowl game.

Even Corndog said in 2018 that was the goal. That’s the new attitude and restructured frame of the football program. If we were serious about turning OSU into a national brand, then we would be more innovative on offense and less predictable.

As I have point out a 1000 times( ur dnt smart enough to understand) a kick and a defense that knew what they were doing we would have been in the title game.
I love how u want us to be top 2 the years we do it u play off. U are a winner Joey. Top notch.

We have the ability while Texas is down to be a team that can at least finish 2nd once every three years or so and play for a conference title.

Our problem is we have a coach that makes sure programs like TCU, Baylor, and Iowa State do it for us instead.

U just say the same thing over and over.
Every school has the same chance to go to the title game. Some has to do with the rite bounce of the ball.
So r last one was 2016. In ur eyes we miss one. If we go this year it would be 5 years instead of 3.
If we dnt win out and lose to ou we will need a lucky bounce.
We are the better team then the next 4, if we choke then we have been in the race till that day. If we win the next 4 we will be in the race till the end.
So just relax enjoy the run.
