A lot of words on a crazy game.

This coaching staff we have had and still have has 0.0 chance of a championship. Just takes most people to see it than some.

It was a great, exciting game. I’d be ok with a little less excitement…… Utah didn’t beat up Baylor very bad at home. Let’s hope this downsides get cleaned up in the next two weeks.

3.3- SDSU
2.3- Arkansas

Average = 2.8 yards per rush

And that’s against SDSU and Arkansas. Not Utah, K State, or anyone else. If you think we’re going to win a conference title doing that then good luck. That’s not even close to being good enough to get third.

The second half was a lot better but these slow starts are going to be a nail in the coffin for us. 77 yards, 0-6 third down, and 0 points at the half for Big Game Dunn.

The third down defense looks worse than Bill Young’s 2012 third down defense. We’re dropping 7-8 guys in coverage and guys are just running wide open down the seam of the field with not a defender in sight. We knew this was a QB that likes to run and we had no spy on him at all in the first half. Sort of felt like we should’ve pressured him more than we did.

They did what they needed to in order to win but they sure do have a lot of issues that need to be resolved. I’m glad they got dominated on the trenches though when it came to running the ball because our OL needs to wake up to how soft they really are.

A hollow victory for sure.
This embarrassing game was a highlight reel featuring every weakness that most of us were aware of before the season began.

  1. Defense stinks. Non-existent pass coverage. Can’t stop big runs.
  2. Bowman is no better than mediocre. His antics almost cost us the game.
  3. Offensive line is experienced but not big enough. No holes for Ollie.
I will restate my prediction from before the season began and from the first game: at most, we win 8 games. After today’s debacle, this might be too generous.
An exciting atrocity today. This team is not even close to making it to Arlington.

Ahh, gotta love our “fans”. You people just need to stop watching and supporting the team. It’s clearly not good for you.

Y’all will forever be miserable. It doesn’t matter that OSU found a way to win while playing poorly, it only matters that they played poorly at all.

Y’all are embarrassing.

How about some positives. 1. A win is a win. 2. Arkansas is a better team than we thought and we still found a way to come from behind. 3. The poise and experience of this team was obvious to stay calm enough to not roll over in the second half. 4. Brennan Presley is an amazing athlete. 5. Ollie Gordon was still clutch when you needed him the most. 6. With the game absolutely on the line, are defense stopped them.

You are exactly right, there are a few of these fans who can never really celebrate. To them it’s better to point out the mistakes and project the end year record after the second game. They actually want OSU to lose so they can validate their own opinions and fire most the coaching staff mid season, even without replacements available. These guys are not even half empty glass guys. They spill the glass and break it and tell you there are no more glasses in the world and if you did find a glass it would cut your tongue and you would bleed to death if you drank from it.

Everyone has listened to these two regurgite the same chit for years so it’s expected from them. Can’t accept the gift of a win for stepping on their tongue flapping bad vibes for everyone. Like we didnt see the flaws
I’ve also seen those flaws do a 180 and they hide or it’s “ but “ or “except “ …. Who the hell cares what they think. I didn’t like a lot of it but I’m like Henson, cut me and I bleed orange !!
Let’s hope we got all the wrinkles out and it’s all good from here on out

Nobody wins conference championships by playing poorly. Maybe they can beat the 13th best team in the SEC doing that. It was only a year ago we had seen how bad you can get beat when you play poorly, and the other team happens to not do the same.

Do you think we’re going to play for a championship playing like that?

I’m not against positives. However, I want the team that returns the second most starters in the country to play like a conference contender, and not a conference bottom dweller. I’ll give credit where it’s due. They found ways to win. I’m not going to ignore all the glaring issues we had seen yesterday though.

We’ve got to find a way to run the football and keep our defense off the field. Our defense was all over the place, and not in a good way. Nardo is in over his head, and Gundy misses Knowles more than people know. We need to go back to the 4-2-5. We do not have the talent across the DL to be running a 3-3-5. That makes it even worse now knowing Oliver is out for the season.

With all that being said. There’s no reason this team shouldn’t win the conference this season. However, as we witnessed yesterday. It’s games like that as to why some people on here do not trust this team to win the conference. We can’t afford to play a bad first half every single game. We used to be consistent and now we’ve turned into Jekyll and Hyde. It’s weird how you can beat OU and turn around to lose by 42 to a 6-7 team the very next week. I want offensive consistency back. I don’t want a circus in the first half.

Few things:
1: We gotta stop giving up big plays on 3rd down. Middle of field is always open

2: Gotta run the ball. If these guys cant do it, then give someone else a chance or a new running game plan outside tackles

3: Kid from Gannon U is legit

4: Game at end really had a 2011 aTm feel to me. Down by a lot and then came back in the 2nd half. Hepe that bodes well for the year

Positives that will take us far is the poise we showed throughout the struggle .

Ollie wasn’t getting down or frustrated and letting that show when last year he did at times
And it was totally
Understandable . It looks like he’s matured through the mistakes he made last year and the off-season .

If we can keep our wits about us we will
Be much more likely to be able to get our positions and assignments down. Without the good headspace which we have we’d have a lot more problems .

Another positive was the conditioning which I’m sure keeps our heads from going awry. If we have the conditioning to be still
Competing well into overtime then that solves a lot of problems for us too.

I couldn’t find it anywhere but here in the comments but were bowman and stribling confirmed as ill?

Nobody plays good every single game. The teams that win championships find ways to win even when they play poorly.

I agree completely. I noticed Ollie was the first congratulating Presley on the touchdowns, when he easily could have been frustrated with what was going on. Looks like he is in it for the team, which is pretty rare for a star these days.
Hunziker and Holcomb mentioned several times on the radio Stribling was for sure sick. Didn’t hear anything about Bowman.

I agree with all this but I don’t think the coaching staff looks at it as a serious problem. As far as they’re concerned they won the game. We only tend to drastically change something up when absolute embarrassment happens (Like South Bama). This coaching staff is not a proactive staff. They’re strictly a reactive staff.

The first half of both games so far proves this to be true. The defense was out of position and so lackluster that even Petrino was probably more focused on how stupidly confusing Nardo’s defense looked rather than having to focus on his own offense. I’ll be really surprised if we even come close to averaging 5 yards per rush against Tulsa next week.

The teams that win championships don’t barely get by average to below average opponents nearly every game. Teams that win championships don’t end up in the Texas bowl. They also win the battle in the trenches and run the football. Which, so far, we can’t seem to do against SDSU and Arky.

Also, teams that win championships don’t go 1-5 in championship games. In fact, I would say that it’s normally the OTHER teams that we face in a championship that figure out how to BECOME CHAMPIONS against US. This might sound negative to you but it’s simply just the truth.

Teams that win championships don’t have a QB shooting pistol guns when only completing 56% of his passes. Bowman is an Fn joke. Bowman you suck at throwing the football. I would have liked to see a Lou Brown (Major League reference) move by Gundy on the sideline telling Blowman to never do that **** again.
