Thoughts on an OSU loss that was closer than the final score entailed.
Not much to say except I’m more than ready for OSU football to be over, and hopefully the next HC can right the ship in the next couple of years.
The fans deserve better…..
Really the only thing you deserve is to go to Oklahoma State university because you are paying too.
“Not much to say except I’m more than ready for OSU football to be over, and hopefully the next HC can right the ship in the next couple of years.”
Nonplussed - I’m shocked at the state of disrepair of the program. Gundy’s hubris did a terrible disservice to oSu. “No soup for you!” Statue that is…
GoPokes!!!
We all know that we made a deal with the football gods to win the last bedlam….this is just the bad side of that deal.
you know what I’ll take it. Ive got a video of that game that I can watch in perpetuity until I die. I can live with that lol.
I’m just kind of waiting to see how the administration and the new HC are going to try and reverse the damage Gundy has completed. This was done intentionally and everyone knows it.
Hey champ,
Wow. I’m going to write you are prescription for 500mg of Copium for your GDS. Be like your fellow patient, ar1, and pretend we’re getting better now that Gundy’s gone.
Kind of like a few people still living who can live with our ‘45 championship? ![]()
Everyone except all the sane people. Next you’ll tell us Gundy shot JFK, hunted Sasquatch into extinction and caused the downfall of Yale football.
I would’ve never gone to Oklahoma State University if I didn’t grow up a football fan going to Stillwater on Saturdays for 18 years. I had a lot better academic opportunities and money wasn’t an issue. You don’t want to lose that. It takes every
Maybe stop pretending it’s anyone else’s fault first? Like the administration that you’ve been trying to blame this entire time
.
Hey champ,
I don’t know how to tell you this, but if you think they sat back and let Gundy sabotage the program and set it back 30 years on their watch, you’re blaming them more than I am.
No, you blamed the entire administration. Not one specific person. There’s a difference.
For me that 45 championship isn’t really a thing. Trying to ruin my continued enjoyment of the last football bedlam bytrying to equate the two is not cool.
Gundy and people like him is the reason all the dinosaurs are dead
Hey champ,
Yes, that would be a failure of the entire administration. They bear a lot of fault. Gundy has fault. I don’t think Gundy sabotaged the program. That’s ridiculous.
1.) The school is behind on financial planning for NIL. Not Gundy’s fault at all.
2.) The school is behind on fundraising. Gundy has some fault. Fundraising is primarily the administration’s job, but he didn’t help as much as he should’ve and probably hurt with his comments. I didn’t mind his comments, but some wealthy people are thin-skinned and it’s their prerogative to be bothered by it.
3.) I think the admin meddled in the rebuild. Firing the entire staff is a bad idea. Gundy let the coaches get to a bad place, but pushing to fire almost everyone is a bad snap decision by the admin. There were good position coaches. Tearing it down to studs made this season even less likely to succeed.
4.) The university is plagued by bad hires and snap firings. Some are Gundy’s bad hires, but some are above his paygrade like President and whatever they’re doing with Weiberg.
5.) They were indecisive with Gundy. Retaining him was a bad idea if he only had a three game leash with a whole new team and staff. I was hoping for some magic, but it would have been just that… magic. If a bad start would get him fired and a bad start was the overwhelmingly most likely scenario, then don’t waste the season.
6.) Again, anything you put on Gundy is also on them. If Gundy was running the program into the ground, then it’s the AD’s fault and the President’s fault and the Board’s fault as well for not making the moves.
- No school in the Big 12 had a large advantage in NIL over OSU. Besides Tech and BYU. That’s not an administrative problem. That’s a coaching problem.
- OSU went three straight losses in 2024 before changing up their offense some to look halfway competent. That’s not an administrative problem. That’s a coaching problem.
- Gundy recruited a bunch of JC and D2 guys. Not to mention he picked up guys from places like Marshall and UTEP (some that couldn’t get on the field there). That’s not an administrative problem. That’s a coach being incompetent and filling a roster with anything.
- Gundy could’ve hired some younger and fresher coaches to lead his new roster. Instead, he hired old fired coaches. To further prove my point, his new DC hire couldn’t keep anyone below 40 that’s a P4 school and didn’t even last half a season
. - Gundy gets a bye week against a bad Tulsa team. Proceeds to accomplish a historic loss while his offense scores one touchdown doing it
.
It would be one thing if Gundy was middle of the pack in NIL and pulling a 7-5. Except, that’s not what happened. He went 3-9 in 2024 and proceeded to give us a team worse than the 2020 Kansas Jayhawks while flipping the bird to Weiberg and everyone else (the guy that more than likely saved him from being chit canned last season). 52-0 to end the year. 69-3 at Oregon and capping his career off with a historic loss to Tulsa after a bye week. That’s not a dude that’s trying. That’s a dude with major pride, ego, and arrogance issues.
So…it pains me to say it, but I partially agree with @bill18 here, but more with @heychamp. I truly believe that the current Board of Regents is on a power trip:
- I believe that they approved all the money moves that Dr. Shrum made (remember, no money was lost, just appropriated) and hung her out to dry when someone asked questions. They fire her when things don’t work out.
- @bill18 makes the point that Gundy could have hired younger coordinators (true!), but when the whole thing with Mike went down last summer, the BOR said that they had to approve his hires. Since Mike said he had no idea who Grantham was until “someone mentioned him,” I suspect that the BOR told him who to hire. They fire him when things don’t work out.
- They leave Weiberg dangling for months without a contract for whatever reason (none of which make sense) and now, finally approve one. If the new coach isn’t successful in the first year or so, I think I know what will happen. They’ll fire him when things don’t work out.
I normally abhor conspiracy theories and I don’t think this is one. I think it’s an ego trip on the part of people who are supposed to direct the University, but believe they’re smarter than anyone else.
I remain loyal and true, although no one want to see me shirtless and waving it over my head.
Go Pokes!
And @bill18 , love the new haircut! Might want to see someone about those teeth, though. ![]()
