Go pay attention to Robert after our Bedlam win. The remark was “There ya go!!! We’re going to have a winning record no matter what happens now!!!”. Is that where we’re still at? Stuck in 2002?
Yeah…well when the HC and offensive staff get top 25 pay I kind of expect them to give me some top 25 results. Scoring 3 points against a new P5 team with a losing record isn’t exactly ideal.
No, I’m not a large donor, but I do my part. I go to every home game when I can (I didn’t make it to South Bama though. Glad I didn’t). I also take at least one road trip every year as well. Do I give large chunks of money? No, but I give what I can without breaking the bank and responsibly use my money. Why do I get mad? Because the HC asks the fans to show up and support the team, but the HC and his staff fail to show up in games they should be winning. Thats why I get mad.
Is that your Poll? Texas was not ranked by the CFB Playoff Committee or AP before that game. Those are the only polls I use. I don’t use the Mysterious Voter poll that you use. Texas was 6-4 entering that game, how 6-4 teams are ever ranked? Wake up.
Joy wants Les back. He prefers a 28-21 record over 163-78 because Les won a couple of Bedlam games. Mind you Mike Gundy was the OC during those wins. When Les left the program high and dry Mike was there to pickup the pieces and cleanup the program. He always goes back to Gundy’s Bedlam record which if you count the ties as half wins in the overall series is almost exactly on par with how OSU has fared over the history of the series. However, Gundy’s accomplishments outside of Bedlam are far greater than any coach OSU’s ever had. OU is one of the top programs and I’m not much for moral victories but despite the record he made that matchup competitive. We had 3 games under him that came down to the wire and we won. We had 6 or 7 that came down to the wire and we lost. I am much more competitive than most people. I have a mindset you should win every game, but I’m also not an idiot. You mention the coaches get paid top 25 money. Guess what? OSU is a top 25 program. You mention being tired of Gundy saying we got outcoached. You do realize there is a thing called “coach speak”. Do you really believe everything Gundy says to the media he’s going to be 100% transparent? Talk to you next week. Hopefully we beat Houston and remain in the running for a conference title shot.
Is getting beat by South Bama (5-5) and UCF (5-5) by a combined score of 78-10 how football works? Is that how it works for people claiming we’re a top 25 program? I think I trust my understanding (and others) a little more than your general statement.
What do I need to understand? I’ve been studying the OSU football program all my life, and also since Gundy’s taken over. It doesn’t take much critical thinking to come to a conclusion that getting pounded 78-10 by smaller football programs isn’t good for a self proclaimed Top 25 program.
So you don’t want to prove to your recruiting base, donors, and fans that go to the games you have the capability to make the playoff, win a playoff game, and play on the largest stage of college football? Sounds very original.
But yet we are still ranked in the Top 25 by independent sources. So that means the country believes we are a Top 25 school. So you suggest we are not but the rest of the country believes it. CFB ranks us 23 and AP 24. This because the people who vote, look at wins and losses and come up with a ranking, which you fail to understand.
You are a dreamer, the few schools that are not blue bloods that reach the Playoff usually get hammered. Now when the Playoff expands to 12 teams, sure why not make it. When was the last time a team won the National Title without having previously winning one? In other words when was the last time did a team win their first Natty? deedeeedeeedeeedeeeeditdadeedeedeedee Answer: Florida in 1996. 27 years ago. That tells me the Blue Bloods own college football and they are going to continue.
I never said we weren’t. I just simply asked the question if getting beat 78-10 by South Bama and UCF is something your typical top 25 program does? I would venture to say it’s not.
I don’t believe I’ve ever said Gundy needs to win a national title, or that he needs to make a CFP. If you’ve paid any attention to what my expectations are (which you obviously haven’t). I think OSU should be winning the conference every 3-4 years and playing consistently in NY6 bowls and winning them.
I’ve never said I thought OSU should make the CFP. I’ve never said they should win a national title. Since Gundy has been the HC (currently in season 19). We have one conference title and two NY6 trophies. Just because the Blue Bloods may own college football doesn’t mean you shouldn’t build your program to at least win conference titles and/or NY6 bowls.
How in the world do you expect to compete with or even beat Blue Bloods if all your focused on is strictly winning percentage and making any bowl game? The answer is you almost never will. You call me a dreamer. Okay, you’ve already showed me we’re top ten in wins. So why can’t we win more than one conference title? Why do we only have two NY6 bowl wins in almost 20 years? It goes back to what I told you a day or two ago. You aren’t going to build a big time program without meaningful trophies. If you don’t believe me. Then you should go ask Clemson.
Clemson’s only national title was 1981. Clemson built themselves from bowl games, to challenging for conference titles, to winning conference titles, to winning NY6 bowls, and on making the CFP, to winning in the CFP, to winning a couple of national titles. That all happened in about a 15 year time span. If we want to dig further. Auburn’s only national title before 2010 was in 1958. They’ve also won the SEC a couple of times since then. Guess who else has a solo national title? What’s written at the end of the goal post near Gallagher Iba?
Lmao calling me a dreamer cause I think we should be more competitive than one conference title and two NY6 trophies in 20 years .
When you get beat by a combined score of 78-10 by South Bama and UCF I’m most likely going to take you seriously when you say you got outcoached. Try not to be willfully ignorant here Pat.
Comparing us to Clemson is a false hope. Who did Clemson have to pass in their own state…let’s see South Carolina. Big deal. We somehow have to get the best players from Oklahoma to not become Sooners. That is a Herculean task and it looks like it’s going to get worse because Venables already has so many OK commits this year. What other schools in the country would you compare OSU to? Who are our peers? Name some schools and let’s see how many NY6 and conference titles they have.
Cincinnati beat Houston beat West Virginia beat UCF beat Oklahoma St beat Oklahoma beat Texas beat Kansas St beat TCU beat BYU beat Texas Tech beat Kansas beat Iowa St beat Baylor beat Cincinnati.
What did that exercise prove?
Wisconsin has won three conference titles and has played in six NY6 bowls since 2005. They’ve won two of them.
Utah has won three conference titles and has played in three NY6 bowls since 2005. They’ve won one of them.
Baylor has won three conference titles and has played in three NY6 bowls since 2005. They’ve won one of them.
Kansas State has won two conference titles and has played in two NY6 bowls since 2005. They haven’t won one.
TCU has won five conference titles and has played in four NY6 bowls since 2005. They’ve won two of them.
Stanford has won three conference titles and has played in five NY6 bowls since 2005. They’ve won three of them.
Virginia Tech has won three conference titles since 2005 and has played in five NY6 bowls. They’ve won one of them.
Georgia Tech has won one conference title and has played in two NY6 bowls since 2005. They’ve won one of them.
Michigan State has won three conference titles and has played in three NY6 bowls since 2005. They’ve won two of them.
So we pretty much are beat out by nearly all these programs when it comes to conference titles except Georgia Tech, and tied with Wisconsin and TCU on NY6 wins. Do these look like blue blood programs to you?
On another note, these are P5 teams with one conference title since 2005:
