Daily Bullets (July 21): Chad Weiberg on Blue-Bloods

Your amount of dept doesn’t affect your current dept for the school. That’s what’s sad about you can still keep pouring money into the athletic dept
Okay I see reviews for a kid from a SW that will admit they are just going on hear say Many others too. Give me a high 3 star that works his arse off over an entitled 4 star
Last but not least money to recruits/ I live around a bunch of uo fans ., almost all for no reason. I know 4 big money guys that havd been chums with Switzer till now. When JC left back in the day it took Switzer plus the money men to get him back. We haven’t had a real major college kid in a while since JC the money guys still like to brag about what they give to the kids. It isn’t NIL money either
So I hope this enlighten you on my perspective :cowboy_hat_face: you want names of the money guys it isn’t happening
It’s a lot better talking when you don’t start with the I’m an idiot about what I say. True we have ONE idiot in here named bill. He stays away from anything but bashing Gundy and us
I do know what I’m talking about

I asked for a name of one, single sportswriter who is ranking recruits? Or who is giving evaluations to recruiting services? You can’t……because it’s not happening. That’s not anywhere close to what a journalist does or how recruiting services do their evaluations.

I’m not being an ahole here, but you’re all over the place with some of your post. I didn’t ask for names of donors or money exchanges.

Thought I would horn in with a comment or two on this discussion(?). Didn’t read it that closely partly because I have Ketchup blocked and the rest that I can see, well there is a lot of it and I have a short attention span. There are a couple (well one anyway) truths in this space though that may help. 1. I’m 99.9% sure that college recruiters give almost zero priority to stars when evaluating recruits. Recruiting staff and coaches are going to evaluate and pick the players that are best for their school based on their criteria. 2. Colleges have been paying players ever since the game was invented. Probably every school has done it to some degree. I do suspect however that there is a strong correlation between those that did it the most or the best, depending on how you look at it, and those who have a history of top tier success.

I can go to the services like On3 , rivals ,writers on many outlets that only go on what someone gaslighting a player. Never seen them play just go on what some jackass says
You didn’t ask for names because you know it’s still going on and you know I wouldn’t tell you anyway
I’m not trying to be a jerk but know it happens
I don’t actually see if but they love to think they are important

Your are correct on most of it. We have some that think stars are the be all to recruiting Granted there are some that deserve all the notoriety they get A lot are overrated on stars
Who’s going to be able to tell the difference in a kid at 87 and one at 90 ? It’s just not a good science. Kid mature a lot from 17 to 21or 22
We had some on here that scoffed at Gundy signing Leon over a year ago. He was a D111 kid. Using that theory he should have never seen a major school signing. I would really like to have him back this year. He caught about everything thrown to him last year

“Stars from sportswriters that never see a kid, only what they hear”

This is what you said. So I ask again……for the 3rd time….give me one single sportswriter that is doing this??

What is your prediction for ou this year?

You really want me to do your homework for you Ketchup ? There aren’t a lot that see a kid play. They go off what someone else says then give predictions about where they possibly sign All of them, On3, Rivals , ESPN
YOU actually think any go watch a kid practice or play

There are ZERO journalists/sportswriters going and evaluating HS players. None. With all due respect, that’s a really dumb thing to say. Journalists aren’t in that business in any way.

If you aren’t a believer in recruiting services, that’s fine. If you think they have agendas, that’s fine too. But to say that stars are given by sportswriters…….is dumb. That’s not how journalism works

This is July, so it’s hard to say. But I hate when people dodge questions on here…….so I’ll give an answer. We’ve gone down this road some already & it’s obviously very early.

Right now, I don’t see a game that OU cannot win. But……they have 7 that could go either way. The W’s are Temple/Houston/Tulane/South Car/Maine. Of those other 7, I say they lose to Ole Miss/Auburn/Bama. So I have 9-3. I’m not sold on Texas. Not sold on LSU. Missouri will be really good, but that schedule of theirs is weak. I can see 10-2 or 7-5. I’ll say 9-3

To be honest I’m not a big believer in the recruiting services. A lot of kids get passed over because of biases of coming from larger schools. None know what a kid has in his tank , has he already reached his limit. How much more potential does the lower rated kid have
So to answer your question on that no I don’t
You seem to enjoy calling someone dumb because there believe different than you do.
That is the epitome of dumb

Until Arnold shows something im at 6 and 6.
I havent paid much attention to ou and texas. Texas should have good line, that should help where they lost players. I have no idea how there front 7 is. If they rebuilt it even half well they could be fine.
If Arnold is really color blind it could be a long year. Its a ugly schedule and the 6 loses ate the team ahead of uo. Only 2 at home if i remember rite.

You better get ready its only a month away. Only fall injuries is left to figure out

6-6 will be a major gut punch. I don’t know about the Olines ability to protect Arnold. That’s my biggest concern. Defense looks pretty good. Offensive skill positions look good. We shall see.

You continue to dodge the question. You said something that isn’t true. Sportswriters/journalists have absolutely nothing to do with recruiting rankings.never have. Never will.

I could see OU going 8-4 or 9-3. If Jackson gets hurt behind that brand new o-line, it could get dicey. I think the Pokes go 10-2. Although honestly, the goal should be 12-0. There are absolutely zero excuses. I could see both teams making the CFP.

6-6 is not a gut-punch. Just two years ago, OU went 6-7 with a bowl loss.

2-10 is a gut-punch.

6-7 two years ago was right after Riley had gutted the program. That was an asterisk kid a season. 6-7 now is unacceptable

What is acceptable in BV’s first SEC season? 8-4? 9-3, 10-2 if things go really well? If things go poorly, 6-6 is possible. Like at what point would you go from, “Could’ve been a bit better, but not too bad.” to, “This is beyond awful!”

I thought the recievers went as good as last year?

Its doesnt have to go poorly. Thier are six teams ranked ahead of them
