We’re looking for sponsorships for the upcoming season and school year. Are you interested in sponsoring 10 Thoughts or Daily Bullets? Reach out to Marshall at pistolsfiringblog@gmail.com to get the conversation started. OSU Bullets • The Pokes moved up a spot in the polls this week (PFB) • OSU’s Wes Pahl had the longest punt in the country last week – very impressive (X) • This is fascinating – of all the games in college football, an analyst CBS tapped circled in on taking Arkansas to cover the 7.5-point spread: One of the top college football picks (legendary Vegas handicapper Bruce) Marshall is recommending for Week 2: He’s taking Arkansas (+7.5) to cover at Oklahoma State in a noon ET kickoff on Saturday. The Cowboys have playoff aspirations in the new-look Big 12, but Marshall points out that Arkansas has been a great program to back as an underdog recently. The Razorbacks are 17-9 ATS as underdogs since 2020, which is the same season that current head coach Sam Pittman took over. [CBS Sports] • Pretty impressive – according to ESPN’s numbers, OSU has the No. 11 offensive in the country, the No. 39 defense, and the No. 38 special teams unit. Those…

Kind of bad when you already have a player that knows what Dunn is going to do.

The one issue with that, is that we changed our offense during the bye week after S Alabama and before we played K State. We cut down the RPOs and started featuring OG in a classic deep tailback formation.

I’m going to say this again. Kind of bad when you have a player that knows what Dunn is going to do. He’s one of the most predictable and overpaid Offensive Coordinators in the entire country. I don’t know how people don’t see this?

Every player in the country has access to video of other teams plays. Every team has tendencies and favorite plays. In the 1970s, USC had a play called Student Body Right or Left, They pulled as many players as they could and ran right at the opposing teams. There wasn’t a whole lot of deception, but you had to stop it. So this Arkansas DB via South Alabama says he knows what OSU is going to do… the safety at Ohio St will say the same before they play Michigan this year. Every player on defense who watches film will either know what tendencies to expect or are told by their coaches what to expect from the offense that they are preparing for during any given game each weekend of the year. So you watched this 42 second clip of a DB, who says he knows what they are going to do and now you are convinced that he can predict what OSU’s offense is going to do every play. Let’s remember his name and see if #13 has a huge advantage in the game planning for the Razorbacks defense. Interesting interpretation of his 42 second video clip.

The only time we’ve changed things up before a game kicks off over the last three or four seasons is when we play OU. That’s it!!! Outside of OU, we just do the same thing we’ve always done. Maybe some minor adjustments at the half against teams that have no business leading us at the half. Other than that. That is it!!!

It was also one of the largest reasons we lost the CCG in 2021 after ten trips inside the 20 yard line. You should listen to Robert more. Even he will tell you our red zone offense has sucked the last few years.

I just pulled up the 2021 CCG and OSU had 5 trips inside the red zone, not 10 like you stated. When you mix opinions with exaggerated facts it leaves me really nothing consider. So, you don’t think OSU changed things up before the Kan St game last year? That is when OSU ditched the RPOs and started playing Gordon deeper in the backfield in a classic I-Back offense. Did you not hear about that? You can always Google articles on it.

  • Baylor 6 yard line (FG)
  • Baylor 6 yard line (FG)
  • Baylor 4 yard line (touchdown)
  • Baylor 3 yard line (FG)
  • Baylor 1 yard line (end of game)

You’re right. That’s my fault. Instead, we had all our possessions INSIDE THE 6 YARD LINE!!!

I think we reaped the benefits of winning the turnover battle 3-0, having more TOP, and giving the ball to our best player finally. Also, the fact that we only scored one offensive touchdown doesn’t make me think we changed much up.

About the only thing we did was start handing the ball off to OG more. Maybe some of the blocking schemes. Would I say we won that game primarily because of the offense? No, not really. We won primarily because of Special Teams and winning the turnover battle more than anything.

What Dunn proved to me is that he was good enough for one touchdown and getting the offense to be good enough to set us up in FG range that game. I rarely if ever agree wit Robert, but he’s right about Dunn. His red zone offense is nonexistent. We need touchdowns and not field goals. Our defense isn’t good enough (yet) that we can be involved in a FG war with the other team. That’s not very impressive IMO.

Actually, it was the ISU game that we changed our offense. If you really believe we did not change our offense after the ISU game last year, then you have accepted your own delusional world. How could you have missed that? PFB wrote articles on it. Gundy made statements about it in press conferences. OSU ditched the RPOs and started using Gordon in the traditional I formation without a fullback… that means he was not offset from the Qb, but was lined up directly behind him. How could you have not noticed? There is no point in any further debate because you have accepted alternate visions of the world. I don’t care if you don’t like Dunn. That isn’t going to change this year.

I believe we did. Didn’t stop us from losing to a team that can’t beat Ohio or hardly score on Ohio though. Were we really worse than the Bobcats? You don’t have to care if I like Dunn or not. I’m just simply stating some facts about him.

Who cares about Iowa St’s issues in other games. That type of logic is shallow thinking. Iowa St also went 6-3 in the B12. You constantly refer to the losses OSU has had in the last 4 years and complain about how/why we didn’t win. I have never heard you refer to a past game that we won. You’re expecting a B12 title or bust every year. You sound like an OU fan.

We did change offense last year and more plays were added as the season went on. There will probably many new plays this year.
However, I am not so confident that we are going to beat Arkansas. I suspect that we will win but this game can go either way. And not because of what the DB said.

We would have to be good enough to do that first before I could expect it. I picked us to go 9-4 last season. So I wasn’t far off :+1:.

I don’t even know why I read comments here anymore. Makes me depressed smh.

What you are describing is college football. With the exception of a few teams every year most teams can be beaten on any given weekend. I’ve always chalked it up to its kids playing the game but really there is a lot more to it. In any case your feelings are normal and justified. Go Pokes.

When I saw 15 comments, I assumed it was a Gundy sucks fest. How refreshing, a Dunn sucks fest. I’m going to go out on a limb and boldly proclaim there are worse OCs than him.

Hey champ,

There are perverts in this world who pay a lot of money to unsavory women to get the same joy of being being humiliated as you just experienced for free. Kudos on being frugal, champ. Really creepy to watch, though.

I’m sure there are. I’m not saying he’s the worst. All I’m saying is he worth being the 15th highest paid OC in the country? I would suggest that the 15th highest paid OC would be able to figure out a red zone offense after four years on the job. What I mean by that is not simply getting us into easy FG range for three points. I’m talking about scoring touchdowns. I would think if he’s worth it then at least a G5 would be offering him a HC gig somewhere, or some other P4 team would be interested in him. I haven’t seen that yet.

There are also some fans that want to overpay coaches for mediocre results. Luckily, I’m not in that category.
