Derek Mason Says '85%' of OSU's Defensive Scheme Will Remain the Same

We don’t have a personal issue with Gundy. Every time we make a legitimate claim as to why or how Gundy can’t do something you’re all waiting in the shadows to jump out and make the next excuse. Robert specifically is the King of those excuses.

I’ve seen you guys tend to blame the players and never acknowledging the situation is we’ve had one factor in OSU football since 2005. I’m not saying that it’s never the player’s fault, but sometimes it isn’t. 2018 is the perfect example. How can you be good enough to beat Texas and nearly pull off a win in Norman while at the same time losing to Texas Tech and K State (two teams that didn’t make a bowl game)?

What Gundy hasn’t figured out is in order to go from being a good coach to great coach is that sometimes you have to adjust your thinking and some of the way you do things. Hopefully that’s what Saban told him in Alabama a few weeks ago. About the only thing I’ve seen Gundy do in those terms so far is give more scholarships and focus towards the defensive side of the ball.

Other than that Gundy still has the same coaching philosophy he’s had since 2005. He admits every year they’re going to do the same thing they’ve always done. Most elite teams also have a good offensive line to rely on (like we did in 2011). How long will it take him to figure that out again? I really do hope Gundy has immense success at OSU. I’m just not against constructive criticism against any coach. I’m also not blind to the fact that most of the time he’s still stuck in his play not to lose mentality.

Give me all of these excuses I’ve made? I’ve called Gundy out before, I don’t believe he’s bear Bryant but I know he’s a ■■■■ good football coach that has to fight an uphill battle every year with a monster right down the road and so called fans like you. You bring the pitchforks out every day, it has gotten personal for you

It also didn’t take Dave Aranda, Matt Campbell, Tom Herman, Charlie Strong, and Chris Klieman seven seasons to figure out how to beat that monster down the road either. Gundy should want his fans to hold him responsible and accountable. What fans shouldn’t do that?

I could really careless what those teams did, like I’ve said before you’d be fine with 4-7 seasons as long as we upset OU

Are you going to actually have a constructive conversation with me on Gundy? Or are you just going to cry a river and continuously call me a bad fan?

I’ve never once seen you call out Gundy for anything on this forum. This is exactly the stuff I’m talking about. A little bit of criticism for not being able to get more than we have and all of a sudden we’re bad fans!!!

Well God forbid we actually aspire for a championship caliber football PROGRAM and not pledge allegiance to the COACH.

Lmao whoa your hilarious I only made and tagged you in a post saying fire Gundy after the CCG that YOU replied too :joy: when all you do is say fire Gundy and talk down on the players that work their asss off everyday, yea I’ll call ya a bad fan.

So what are your expectations of Gundy then?

Depends on the situation. I didn’t have many expectations going into last season given all that we lost. My expectations soared after bedlam and I was extremely disappointed in the playcalling during the CCG. I also collected myself later and realized it was a great season and firing Gundy would be a stupid thing to do.

Now from here forward things have changed. He’s the highest paid coach in the conference and they’re pumping money into the program. I personally think he needs to win the conference in the next two years. I also know it’s easier said than done

And when he doesn’t win the conference in the next two years… more excuses.

"Once OU and Texas leave "
" You can’t account for injuries "
“These new schools don’t have to recruit to a chit hole”

Now we’re starting to get somewhere. Be careful!!! You might get called a bad fan for admitting this.

I think he should have no less than three conference titles right now. In 2013 he phucked around with OU the entire game which resulted in a loss. In 2016 he did the same thing.

I gave him credit for a better called game in Bedlam this last year. He actually coached during that game like he wanted to win it. See??? Not everything I say about the man is bad.

Constructive criticism is okay, you post nothing but non stop 3 things for criticism Joey. It’s annoying !! You think Gundy doesn’t go into every game wanting to win it !! You’re nuts if you think he doesn’t. Losing to a team you should beat happens every pucking year !! It’s just football, which you don’t understand

What grounds do you have to say he “should’ve won it “ you say he’s a terrible recruiter and does a terrible job at developing quarterbacks, so please tell me why that roster should have won it

Was he not picked to win the conference in 2013? Returning 17 starters. Don’t you remember this? Remember how we kneeled at halftime in 2016 instead of trying to get a halftime lead?

Don’t you remember how you say he doesn’t recruit well enough to win the conference? Which is it joe

When you return 17 starters from a team that previously won 8 games being competitive in most, and your rival down the road had to replace several players. Yeah…you probably should take advantage of it while you can. Especially after you beat the team that was leading the conference.

I just don’t get what he’s supposed to take advantage of when, as you have said multiple times “he doesn’t recruit well enough to win anything meaningful “. You must secretly realize he’s a hell of a coach
