Same old same old smh.
Until this team gives me a reason to care, I’m done.
If I want to watch a BB game, I’ll watch the women’s team. I suggest you do the same.

Normally, I would be really pissed, but we just beat OU. Even the same ole BS with basketball can’t damper this feeling!!!

Different year same old story. Missing the tournament shouldn’t be acceptable.

Unless we miraculously go on a run Boyton might be done.

I like Coach Mike. I really do. He seems like a good person and is a great ambassador for the university, but it’s pretty clear it’s not working out. The league was already the toughest in the country and with the new teams, it will only be tougher. Coach was never really put in a position to do well (bs probation, etc.), but that can’t excuse such poor execution day in and day out.

Young talented team without there most important player on the floor and almost beats a team that in my opinion is a really good athletic team that will be considered a tournament team at the end of the year. Abilene Christian will beat alot of teams this year. College basketball in general has not been very good for some years now. When kids nowadays grow up just jacking up 3’s their hole life then the product will hurt. Mikes teams always starts off slow at first but always gets better as the season goes on. I’m not worried about this lost but I’m seeing red watching all of his teams struggle shooting free points year and year out. This is what hurts his team wins. I think they will be fine when healthy and midway through the season.

I just cannot comprehend how the FT shooting is this bad. You can find a lineup of dudes at the Colvin any day of the week that would run circles around this team at the charity stripe.

Ugh… Love Boynton as a person and LOVE his recruiting, but his teams are soooo weak on the court.
OSU basketball creates an emotional dumpster fire in my head. I cannot engage further…

This has GOT to get better or a great man, and a good coach is in trouble. I love the guy…but this is not ok. We have SO much talent. Hopefully it comes together…SOON! GO POKES!

Not going to panic yet, but did watch the game and wondered this: if we had an IDEAL offensive possession, who would score? Meaning, we’re running an offense that is designed to get us what kind of shot?

I honestly don’t know.

I’m with the rest of you. I REALLY want to see Coach Boynton succeed. His compassion for his players seems second to none. However the conclusion is rapidly approaching that things are just not working out and the only sensible thing to do is for everyone to just move on and try to find success elsewhere.

Real question here…would Boynton stay on in a non-HC capacity? He’s obviously a great recruiter with obvious potential. But, if he gets canned here, where’s he going to go? I guess he could be a HC at a mid-major and rebuild the resume. But, any chance he’d stay here through a different administration?

(Answer: Probably not…)

Reminds me of Leonard Hamilton when he was the coach for the Pokes. Great recruiting classes but did not translate to success on the court. How many years does Boynton have on his contract?

If we follow the same standard as Ford, then seems like this should be his last year if they don’t make it to the NCAAs.

Big difference. He improved every year every where he went. He would made the tournament that 5 year.

The ongoing struggle in Boyton’s tenure has been a complete lack of imagination on offense. The Cowboys

  • cannot score in the halfcourt with everyone standing around.
  • don’t push in transition.

This is on the coaching staff. The last time the offense was good was Cade Cunninham’s year, solely because he could make his own shot.

How about

  • high/low with the big guys?
  • pick and roll with one of the big guys?
  • penetrate and kick with a fast point guard?

Inexcusable to me to loose this game. Granted they have been a tournament team 2 out of 3 years I think.
Free throws are abismale , no fing way scholarship players shoot 40% !! That’s grade school shooting
Maybe we have some players reading press clippings. Love Mikes recruiting, but somethings wrong with the system
Maybe this is a wake-up for all. I’m ready for something resembling Eddie ball

Ready to move on from Boynton. His teams continue to look poorly coached every year. Undisciplined Streetball and missing free-throws every year.
