That’s fair, but when is the last time the #1 overall draft pick won a national championship? I know that none of them have in the past decade. It’s rare for the #1 overall draft pick to also have the nation’s best team. They haven’t updated the coaches or AP poll since they only update weekly, but Goodman is updated daily and after Monday’s win they have OSU at #13. Katz has OSU at 14. If they win in Norman Saturday, I’m assuming they’ll be really close to the top 10, definitely the top 15 when they official rankings come out Monday. Not bad, all things considered. You also have to consider that most #1 overall picks have 2 or 3 other 5 star players around them, as they’re typically coming from a blue blood school. OSU doesn’t have that.
And as for play calling, it still needs to improve more but I saw a lot of improvements Monday. For example, in a tie game with under 3 minutes left you’d assume Cade would just start going 1-on-1 every play, but instead they swung the ball all the way around the perimeter and fed the middle for a wide open dunk. That’s something we haven’t seen out of them in a long time. There’s definitely improvements, which is all we can ask for.
Agree with most of this. My only rebuttal is about next year’s recruiting cycle. I’ve seen tons of people use his lack of commits for next cycle as a reason not to give him more money, but again he does not have the scholarships to give out. He was able to chase hard after guys last year with Lindy, Dizzy, Cam, Yor, Laurent, all of those guys leaving. He had tons of scholarships to replace. Looking toward next year, though, he has basically none. Not only is there a very good chance that Cade is the only scholarship player leaving after this season, but the NCAA will most likely uphold the scholarship reduction sanction as well. There’s a chance he will have zero scholarships to give out, and that is why his recruiting cycle for next year is so dormant. Not because he’s under-recruiting, but because he literally cannot. He has nothing to give. I’d say finish this year out and then give him some sort of bonus, and then if he makes the tourney again next year give him some sort of contract restructure. Also, BU knowing about all of the violations Evans was committing when they were together before coming to Stillwater, and then bringing him with him to Stillwater, and then bouncing the second he found out about looming investigations may have had something to do with him leaving. He was right in the middle of the violations, I guarantee he absolutely knew about all of it, and then he dipped and left osu out to dry.
You made my point though in a way we wanna talk about boynton being this great recruiter , but who outside of Cade is just a legitimate can start for most teams player?
If you think the reason why we haven’t signed anybody for the 2021 class is because we don’t have any your fooling yourself. Why would Boynton say he’s always recruiting and we just offered the 6’10 Michigan St. decommit last week. I’ll be shocked if Bryce Williams and 31 Flavors come back, but you never know. If your Donovan Williams or Chris Harris do you really see a path to play much next year. Maybe they stick around because they like being part of a team. That’s the reason why Boynton offered a number of kids for 2021 it just hasn’t worked out. I think your correct on the penalty of losing 3 scholarships over the next 3 years, and that will play a role in offering kids moving forward. For the record I never said Boone was a recruiting blunder. What I said is that Boynton has made a number poor choices in recruiting and that can’t be disputed. The last 2 classes have been very good and the first 2 classes very bad. I believe Ice is the only recruit standing from the first 2 recruiting classes.
They don’t have any other superstars, but there aren’t many of those in college basketball. There’s 4-5 guys on this team that could start for most teams. Boone’s playing out of his mind lately, Anderson is one of the best on-ball defenders in the league and he’s found his offensive rhythm, he’s averaging 13 a game over the past 5 so he could start for most teams, and give it a year and Walker will be the same way. Williams and Flavors were both transfers, so they weren’t his recruits. He has gotten 7 4-stars and the number one overall player in the country in the past 2 years. That’s extremely impressive for an unproven coach at a school with not much basketball success as of late.
Whoa buddy please name these 4 stars that are contributing. Only one I know is Anderson outside of Cade. And I’m talking composite ranking not just one site crap

Have you watched a single Oklahoma state basketball game at all this year? Kalib Boone isn’t contributing at all? He’s contributing even more than Anderson lol. Averaging 14 over the past month and has the 4th highest FG percentage in America of anyone with more than 50 attempts. Walker isn’t contributing? MAM isn’t contributing? Come on now this is ignorant.

Boynton was on Cades radar 4 years before hiring his brother, he listed OSU has one of his top schools 2 years before OSU hired his brother, and his brother was on staff with Boynton before coming to Oklahoma state. It wasn’t just some random charity case.

If that’s how you see it then maybe Gundy should offer a 5 stars older brother to coach special teams. God knows it can’t get any worse.
Go find us a 5 star recurit that has a older bother. Or younger mom aunt dead grand father if itll make u happy.
