Former OSU Coach, Ace Recruiter Marcus Arroyo Fired by UNLV

Thanks for the reply @michael13 appreciate it. Now I knew all this that you mentioned and I was just wondering if I had missed something in his resume because the stuff that I know about him which includes what you have mentioned doesn’t warrant being the OC at OSU, at least in my book.

Robert brought it up. Go back and read the comments. Don’t know who this dude is and I don’t care. I just want to talk about the articles in the forum and discuss it.

Yes I agree. I like his QB coaching experience in the NFL but I think he would need to do that on the college level before being made an OC. I could be wrong though and maybe he would be a great college coordinator.

Yep he needs experience successfully coaching in various position groups before I’d say he is qualified to be the OC

I don’t know unless they try him. I’m almost convinced he would at least be better than Dunn (a guy I’ve seen the last three years). I didn’t pass any judgement on Mason as the DC when he first came in and I’m not going to after just one season.

You really kill me. By that statement your either a very religious guy or a reckless gambler that not better with your money.
The main thing is he has never called plays. You think he will tell gundy he is his own man.

You talk about judging, thats a joke. All you do is look at result. I look at how dunn has adapted with all the issues he has had to deal with.

I think he needs to be on staff to see how he operates and gets along with kids, recruits etc
Jeffy says all the kids hate Gundy so I guess it would an improvement

Calling plays would be where he would lack some I think too. He’s probably been through a lot of game plans but never called a game

I’ve have everything paid off but my house which will be in a year. I’m not even 40 yet. Don’t make assumptions and make yourself look like a giant a$shole in front of everyone. You’re not a Nick Saban either so I don’t even know why I’m wasting my time replying back to you. Tell me why you would hire a guy to run a top 25 program then that’s never called plays? At least Yurcich did it on the lower college level. I’m look at results because normally in the end that’s all that matters :man_shrugging:. Dunn hasn’t adapted to anything. All he’s done is still continue to call head scratching plays even if he hasn’t dealt with injuries.

Oklahoma State was ranked 10th during the 2021 season in Plays Per Game offensively: College Football Stats - College FB Team Plays per Game | TeamRankings.com

Offensively speaking we were 49th in total offense while having a top 5 defense. Since you seem to be the wizard here then explain to us all how much sense that makes? How in the world can Dunn enjoy the fruits and labor of a defense that stayed in the top 5 consistently year round while being ranked 10th in total plays ran per game and was just barely breaking the top 50 offensively? For most of the year outside non-conference OSU suffered no abundance of significant injuries. The answer is Dunn DOESN’T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Lol you wonder why you reply then your rite a novel.

If your not 40 that means you real havet seen the real osu. Your good at stats. He is one osu was a below 500 program till gundy got here. Gundy has won at 70% clip thats the same as blue blood texas. We spent the first decade and more inthe big 8 losing another decade at the end of big8 and beginning big 12.

You definitely dnt know what ADAPTABLE means. Offense is not a cookie cutter, punch out the same plays no matter players. When a coach does know who playing from week to week.

Okay. I’m not concerned what happened 30, 40, 50, 60, or even 70 years ago. You might be, but I’m not. What I want to know is what realistic plans do we have of getting better since 2011? Because recruiting in the 30’s and 40’s and testing first time offensive coordinator’s with inconsistent offensive lines doesn’t seem to be working in our favor.

I like how you skip the 70%. Then went into your rainman act. Look repeating yourself may give you confidence in you illogical beliefs but does make it a debate.

It doesn’t mean anything to me if we can’t get to or win the bigger bowl games or even a second conference title. Some of the people on here are right. It’s frustrating to win something big and go an entire decade before doing so again. I believe we should be a better program than that. If you’re happy with 70% then good for you. I was always taught not to settle for less if I don’t have to.

I’ve got an even simpler approach, screw the past including 2011 or what not, what are we going to do to make next year better?

Kyle Whittingham championship coach doing what Gundy can’t. Winning championships and beating Lincoln Riley more than once.

@ar1 Yep he’s a good coach. Overall on par with Gundy, similar overall records although he has been at it a little longer, 2 years or so, and has been in weaker conferences the entire time. He might be a good replacement at OSU if Gundy were to leave but at 61 I doubt he would make the move.

Biggest difference is Whittingham wins championships and beats Lincoln Riley.

BTW they both started in 2005.

This goes back to is riley that good.

Utah is the only power 5 team in the rockies. They get a lot of poly players. Get alot of underrated players.
Look at werran and cobb. He is a good coach in a bad league.

He’s 4 and 1 better than Gundy.
