‘We worked on it in the spring, and I liked what we saw.’
I see the flexibility differently, whenever someone brings up the 4 man front, they mention Collin Oliver on the edge. I think of having Clay and Kirkland both in as DTs vs Kansas St and limiting their run game.
KSt lost the better part of that line last year so they will have trouble duplicating a couple of them. If Clay and Kirkland can clog that middle the backers should feast
I agree, Kansas St loses 4 starters on O line including an AA and only 4 starters return on offense, yet pundits pick the Wildcats to go to the CCG. I think OSU and ISU will be ahead of Kansas St. as well Utah.
Iowa state is probably due for a nice run .
So Gundy hires Nardo from a D3 school specifically to implement a 3-4 defense. Gundy stated that the Iowa State 3-4 alignment caused his offenses the most problems, yet he hires a D3 coach instead of an Iowa State defensive assistant?
Nardo’s Year 1 results were average to poor, dependent on the game.
Now he’s wanting to go back to a 4-3 on some early downs? I get wanting flexibility, but why publicize it?
Sounds like you are over thinking/analyzing things a bit.
Something tells me a certain coach misses Jim Knowles and isn’t completely sold on a 3-3-5 defense.
If we want to be serious it wouldn’t be surprising. TCU came out of nowhere in 2017 and 2022. Baylor did the same in 2018 and 2021. Iowa State did in 2020. Nobody was picking Baylor or K State to win the conference.
We just can’t seem to win another conference title no matter what. The trend of returning a lot starters and m never being able to make it back to the CCG (or win it) has been the OSU mantra for over a decade now. Thats more than likely why they picked us to be third.
We did not have the talent to to be successful with Nardo defense. And we still are not sure about the talent of Nardo.
Knowles first season in Stillwater, the defense gave up 452 yards a game. Last year we gave up 441. Let’s see what happens in the second year.
Tcu didn’t win the B12 in either 2017 or 2022, Baylor did not win it in 2018, ISU did not win it in 2020, yet you give those schools credit for making the title game, but give OSU no credit for getting there as well. OSU is the only school, to get to the B12 title game twice in the last 4 years, so they are as a prediction to get there as anybody.
Knowles has yet to beat Michigan, which is what he was hired to do. You also skip over the fact we matched their offer to him. You skip a lot of chit bill , why ? Because you don’t know football
Nardo didn’t had 5th year seniors playing either DA. Go learn football before you try to run your mouth bill
Bill is an idiot, you come back at him with the real facts he will turn it to a different narrative. He’s as dumb as they come about football and what changes outcomes. Knowles played with 5th year seniors his last year. Two stud lbs. He has no concept about our small recruiting budget and small NIL money He’s fun to make fun off though
The talent or the scheme? Most of the players we have are accustomed to a four down defense. If you want to play a 3-3-5 then you better have at least a couple of studs on that DL. It also takes away from what Oliver does best.
I think you’re missing the point here. What I’m saying is there always seems to be some team come out of nowhere to do something when we’re predicted to be good. We only tend to do better when we’re not expected to. We happened to be that team last season after a disastrous first part of the season. I don’t want to repeat 2013 and 2017 all over again.
Knowles was hired to improve the defense as well. Which he has done so far. Ohio State isn’t going to get rid of a guy that’s improved a defense from 39th, to 12th, and then to 3rd. Knowles isn’t the one sitting in the pocket throwing a pick six to Michigan. It’s funny to me how you don’t apply the same standard to a guy that gets blown away by South Bama and UCF.
Knowles is a veteran coach. The supreme defensive stopper according to you and is paid 4 times more so yea you should expect him to beat Michigan. Don’t be so sure he won’t be fired , Day has a quick trigger. I see you applied the same logic to throwing the int for them as you did for Sanders in 21 …. What a phucking hypocrite
Then you should expect the 15th highest paid OC in the country to beat, or at least put up more points against lesser programs like UCF and South Bama. Michigan just won a national title and they’re a BB program you jokester.
Ohio State’s offense was 47th overall last season. I’m fairly confident he would be firing his OC before doing anything to Knowles.
Sanders didn’t throw a pick six in that game. While he did help the other team he didn’t score for them either. If you don’t believe me then go here:
See what kind of credible response you can give to someone when you actually do research? Why do you think I keep telling you to stop with the baseless claims and excuses?
That’s good bill that you search for articles that are written by people that know as little as you
You rationalize all the chit you want to and roll the coaches place where you want. We still win jackass. But that’s why they play the game If you aren’t prepared or play bad you get your arse kicked it happens to everyone
So go ahead and play your little games in your head ( it means zero ) your daily whining and crying gets old You just aren’t smart !! Never will be so give it up jokester
