Instacap: Oklahoma States Falls to No. 6 Kansas 76-62

Hard to do that with losing seasons.

He’s had one season so far that’s considered a losing season (same as Gundy). He still gets 11 more years to prove he can win at least one conference title. Then we can praise him just like we do Gundy.

Bout to have 2 in 5 seasons.

It’s not done yet.

So it’s okay to be average in basketball (a program we actually have some tradition in) but 12-2 in football just won’t cut it. Got it joe :ok_hand:

In 17 seasons in football we’ve seen the following:

  • one conference title

  • four second place finishes

  • two NY6 bowl wins (barely)

  • a bunch of Nobody Gives a Chit bowl appearances

As far as I’m concerned Boynton just needs to be able to do the following to get on Gundy’s level:

  • win the conference once

  • get three more second place finishes

  • make the sweet 16 or elite 8 a couple of times

  • grow a mullet

If he can do that he should be able to get the praise Gundy gets. There are 300 something teams in basketball all competing for a spot in the field of 68. There are 130 teams in football all competing for a spot in the field of 80. Big difference there Yo.

Lol when ou is still in the running for a spot in the tournament this year it’s not near as tough as you say. Also it’s hilarious when you say “barely won 2 New Years 6 bowl games” how many big 12 championships did we have before Gundy? All boynton has proved so far is he has to have the #1 draft pick to win a tournament game

When have we finished 2nd the last 5 years?

OU also hasn’t played as difficult as a schedule as OSU has either.

How many did we have under Sean Sutton, Travis Ford, and Brad Underwood? Eddie Sutton was a Hall of Fame coach and that’s who Boynton is competing with. That’s like trying to say Gundy should be able to accomplish what Bob Stoops did. We all know that’ll never happen.

Mike Boynton played sixteen top 25 teams last season. Has Mike Gundy even faced that many top 25 teams in the last five seasons? (When Boynton took over)

We played in the conference title game last year against Texas. How do you not remember?

So that means we finished second in the conference? Or second in the conference tournament?

Did Gundy not lose his conference title game? Do you consider that 2nd or are you going to take the Robert route and say “Regular Season Champs!!!”

Everything you wrote here was a complete deflection and attempt to fit your narrative, why would boynton be compared to Eddie Sutton?? Oh idk maybe because his ball team plays on Eddie Sutton court? And your trying to make that the same as comparing Gundy to a coach from a totally different school? Grade A jackass

So we lost 7 games during the regular season in conference but we still finished second, makes a lot of sense

Well, you don’t play 16 games in a football season, dipwad.

Uh… the tournament does not determine who won the league. You can lose in the second round and still be the conference champ. Boynton has never finished 2nd.

Isn’t that what you guys want? Making the tournament every year? Making it to the Final Four? Winning a couple of conference titles? Or do you want to treat it like the football program? Just make sure to be .500 or above and we’ll all be happy.

Do they hand out trophies for regular season finishes when there is a conference championship game?

He can’t figure out how to be above .500

I know. It’s also highly unlikely you’ll play 16 ranked teams out of 28 basketball games in one season as well.
