The Cowboys earn the win… and more QB questions.
Ok, I already know people are burning couches. Let’s keep in mind:
1.) We replaced our DC, OC, every position coach, 10 out of 11 on defense, our entire offensive line, our QB, and our NFL running back, so to expect the team to look crisp and in synch was probably too much of an ask. FWIW, the defense looked better than it did last year against FCS competition, but can’t read too much into an FCS game.
2.) Hejny got hurt. The team looked different and had to adjust to a different play style. They did fine considering that little wrench.
3.) We did a lot worse in our FCS outing in 2021. We had a very rocky start that year and made the championship game. Not saying we’re that team, but please stop panicking day 1.
Yeah, it was ugly and hard to watch at times. That’s what you get when you have two new QBs leading a completely reconstructed team. Communication was off. Reads were off at times. They did fine.
Positives, if you want to look for them. 1.) We’re fine at WR. Davis and Freeman look like studs. 2.) I think Vailahi is looking like the guy at RB. Not saying he’s 2021’s Jaylen Warren, but that was the cog that got the offense working. 3.) Hejny’s wheels are good. Hope he’s not too badly injured, but looks like he was probably the right choice to start.
Oregon is probably going to kill us. That’s a scheduled loss. I’m sure there will be panicking there, too, but I think we can turn the season around. Some good things to build on.

Here is the cold, hard truth. If you can’t run the ball against the easiest opponent on your schedule, you can’t run the ball on anybody. It’s sad, but it’s true. It’s not a coaching thing (we have three offensive line coaches!), it’s a talent thing. None of last years offensive lineman are in the NFL because they were very average, even with all their experience. This year’s version looks about the same. All the remaining teams we play will drop back and play pass defense because the run can’t hurt them. Even if Hejny comes back, running quarterbacks just keep getting hurt (Spencer Sanders, Zac Robinson). Plus, Oregon will just assign a spy to Hejny and that will be the end of that. I hope I am wrong, but I think I can see clearly what is happening here. You’re welcome.

Hey champ,
This is stuff that was brought up all offseason. Completely overhauled roster and staff. I was hoping for a quick start, but that wasn’t likely (although, it did look better when Hejny was out there). I’m not saying we’re going to do well or not, just that the team needs time to gel before people panic. This could be ‘21 or ‘24 or anything in between.

The OL was disappointing yes but they were bring a little more than 4 plus they had a lot of stunts , slants in their DL. That’s communication and coaching can correct that. An OL is crucial to run the ball , and as Gundy said a short passing game is needed for that We have qbs that have seen little action.
I was disappointed they ran the ball at times on our DL but holding them to 220 yards isn’t bad.
They will probably make the FCS playoffs again

No one wants to read that much of your excuses. If anyone thought this team was going to be really good, they don’t know Gundy. Some coaches can go from 3-9 to winning the conference but no one should expect that from Gundy.

The 2018 team would’ve beaten UT-Martin by 35-40 points. That team went 6-6. Look, you can come up with all the stuff you want. However, you still refuse to address the common denominator in the OSU football program.
I didn’t think hiring 60 year old coaches that have been canned from other places was the right answer, and I still don’t. Maybe they’ll convince me otherwise, but I doubt it. I said way back in 2013 losing Wickline was a huge deal, and I’m still right.
I said to pick up a few top talents from G5 schools. What did we do? We picked up a freshman safety from UTEP 
. I said pick up some bench talent from BB schools (second string). We got a guy from Nebraska that wasn’t good enough to get on the field for a 5-7 Nebraska team.
Like….what the hell are we trying to do here? Maybe if we don’t get beat to death at Oregon (lose by 14-17) then perhaps they have some hope. There was absolutely nothing I seen last night that tells me this team is anywhere close to being top 5 in the conference. In fact, it showed me we could possibly be dead last again.
It’s…an….FCS……football….program.

That 60 year old coach proved his worth while he was here. Just like Monken and Knowles did. That’s the part you seem to forget. The others haven’t. You also conveniently left out this part that I said:

Except I never said anything self-contradictory. Just because YOU want to believe something is true doesn’t make it so. So read carefully again:
This is what’s called “distortion of the truth”. You deliberately copy and pasted part of my response and left out “Maybe they’ll convince me otherwise”. There’s nothing contradictory about this statement.
I also followed it up with how the 60 year old coaches who were here proved their worth. That’s another factor you seem to forget. The issue is that you have no situational awareness of what’s actually being discussed, and your ADHD races to a counter argument before actually thinking about what you SHOULD probably say in these scenarios. Learn to think deeper. So, who’s actually the dishonest and stupid one here?
